The gaming community in Qatar is diverse with different nationalities and ages. Joaquin Victor, a 15-year-old Filipino expat, is one of the youngest budding content creators in the streaming scene in Qatar.

Get to know how he is growing in Qatar's gaming and streaming community in our exclusive ILQ Level Up interview series!

ILQ: Please tell us about yourself and the content you produce.

JV: Hello, my name is Joaquin Manuel Victor. I turn 16 in October 2022 and go by the username ‘RogueMyUsername’.

The content I produce is mostly me playing games with my viewers. Through gaming, I have been able to make friends who have been with me for some time now. Eventually, I started making content with my friends and my younger brother.

ILQ: Can you tell us about your streaming journey?

JV: My streaming journey started when my dad introduced YouTube to me as a platform to express myself. I started streaming when I was 9 years old and started playing games like Roblox. It was mostly just me playing Jailbreak on Roblox and as time went by, popular streamers on the platform started to raid my streams and bring in their viewers to my channel. It made me happy because I didn’t expect my favourite streamers on YouTube to raid my streams.

When I turned 11 years old, my older brother introduced me to a game called Fortnite; I fell in love with the game and kept streaming and playing it until I was 13. I later grew fond of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CSGO) because of famous streamers and e-sport competitors like “shroud” and “s1mple”.

ILQ: How did you learn to stream?

JV: My dad introduced me to streaming, and he and my brother would always be there to help me when there were technical problems.

ILQ: What is your favourite game and why?

JV: I would say my favourite game right now would be Valorant because I get to play with friends as most of them play it, and it’s very technical and challenging.

ILQ: What do you love about streaming?

JV: What I love about streaming is that you can show your talent in gaming to the world and let them enjoy how you play it. It’s also refreshing when your viewers join your games. I'm always thankful when they stop by every time I stream.

ILQ: What have you learned from being a streamer & content creator?

JV: I learned that some people may be envious of your success. But even if people don’t show respect towards me, I would still care for them because they might just be having a bad day.

ILQ: What would be your advice to budding gamers?

JV: It will be difficult initially as you might have zero viewers. But since you love gaming and making new friends, just keep doing it, and you will get there sooner than you think.

Be motivated and always have a good time.

ILQ: Can you tell us about the gaming community in Qatar?

JV: The gaming community in Qatar is amazing they truly understand the love for gaming, streaming and making content for viewers.

I have also met other gaming content creators, and I loved getting to know their personalities and how they express themselves.

ILQ: What gaming-related events would you like to see more in Doha?

JV: I would like to see CSGO and Fortnite events happen more in Doha so that I can join these events and show my talent and make new friends.
