InterContinental Hotels Group Qatar represented by InterContinental Doha, InterContinental Doha the City and Crowne Plaza Doha the Business Park celebrated its first ‘IHG Green Week’. The four-day event took place from 18th to 22nd of August, 2014. The purpose of this initiative is to create awareness on the IHG Green Engage, the World.

In light of its extensive deliberations to minimize its impact on nature's turf, the three hotels have made an enormous stride towards its manageability objectives by effectively completing its 'Green Week' last Thursday.

The hotels have been implementing a rigorous environmental strategy to become Doha’s leading hotels in environmentally sound operations. An indispensable part of this strategy has been to involve all employees and have them heartedly contribute to the hotels’ green actions. The Green Week denoted a turning point in actualizing its green approaches and systems and turning into a 'living’ green hotel.

The cautious execution of our green policies ensures that every single member of our hotels knows about the effects of our eco-friendly policy and how to contribute to protecting the planet in their daily work" said Andreas Pfister, Area General Manager of IHG Qatar. "The process of environmental preservation and becoming 'green' hotels has to transpire from the inside and is primarily people driven".

IHG Qatar Green Week entailed a wide range of activities throughout the week among daily training sessions on environmental issues, Saflia Island volunteer beach cleaning, a ‘Green Menu Day’ and a staff Recycled material Art Exhibition and Contest that was overawed by the commitment and passion of the hotel employees.

Over the coming months, IHG Qatar will continue to work to extent the results of the IHG Green Engage. In addition to the technical improvements and ecofriendly systems that have already been introduced over the past few days, the hotels will look forward to further involve not only their staff members but its guests in its actions to preserve the planet.
