In recognition of its growing professional volunteer community and to express its appreciation to partners, schools and volunteers, INJAZ Qatar, a non-profit organization and member of Junior Achievement (JA) Worldwide, hosted its seventh annual appreciation event for corporate partners and school partners on Thursday 29 May at Sharq Village, Doha.

Sheikha Hanadi bint Nasser bin Khaled Al Thani, INJAZ Qatar’s Chairwoman, addressed leading business and academic figures and presented certificates and gifts to corporate volunteers and representatives from schools and universities.

The appreciation lunch followed INJAZ Qatar’s End of Year Board Meeting, during which Sheikha Hanadi advocated increasing the number of board members drawn from Qatar’s business community through the General Assembly.

Commenting on seven years of success for INJAZ Qatar, Sheikha Hanadi said: “We are tremendously proud that we have seen steady growth in the numbers of high schools and universities participating in our entrepreneurial programmes as we shape the next generation of business leaders. This year our Company Program™ and Mubadara Young Entrepreneur of the Year competition reached new heights and we are excited that our forthcoming Start-up Program will offer high school and university winners of our Mubadara competition the chance to develop their business ideas with seed funding and the support of Boeing.

“We are now focused on consolidating our success and further improving the quality of our programs offered to students. To accomplish this, we are focusing on greater inclusivity in terms of recruiting more corporate partners and volunteers, and will welcome more business leaders to our board in the next year as we roll out a new three-year plan.”

Besides recognizing the tremendous support provided by companies on its board of directors, a special thank you was offered to the many partner companies which provide INJAZ with corporate volunteers and sponsor specific projects, including Occidental Petroleum, HSBC, Standard Chartered, ExxonMobil , Vodafone, General Electric, Ooredoo, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and Mashreq Bank.

Speaking at the occasion, Aysha Al Mudahka, INJAZ Qatar Executive Director said, “INJAZ Qatar’s mission and vision is centered around providing a better future for tomorrow’s leaders and with the support of our growing network of partners, we continue to seek new ventures to help prepare the youth of the country to be part of the local and global economy. We are proud that 20 percent of our corporate volunteers are Qatari and some 4 in 10 volunteers have been retained as regular contributors to our programs. We give special thanks to HSBC for providing the highest number of volunteers this year.

“Since the initiation of INJAZ Qatar, we’ve supported more than 14,000 students with the help of 550 corporate volunteers. A total of 38 schools and 7 universities have been involved with INJAZ’s three pillars of work readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy. The support we have received from all of our corporate partners, schools, universities and volunteers has been central to INJAZ Qatar’s growing success. Thank you all for your enormous support.”

This year was INJAZ Qatar’s most successful in terms of the variety of events and awards highlighting the outstanding efforts that were made to empower young entrepreneurs. This year, INJAZ Qatar’s success was further recognized by INJAZ Al Arab with awards for quality, compliance, collaboration and communication.
