Hyatt Plaza shopping mall’s annual charity initiative Fast-a-thon 2014 will take place on 4^th and 5^th of July 2014. The event is organized by the shopping Mall in Cooperation with The Sheikh Thani Bin Abdullah Al Thani's Foundation for Humanitarian Services (RAF) and the proceedings will be donated to the people of Africa.

Fastathon is an initiative that encourages the non Muslim community in Doha to experience fasting one whole day, in order to experience the thirst and hunger of the deprived people in the world and thereby support the poor and needy. Through this campaign, Hyatt Plaza and RAF will donate QR 200 to the people of Africa on behalf of every individual who participate in the event. This year the organizers have also partnered up with Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC), providing an opportunity for the participants to clarify the health effects of fasting through an interactive session.

“Over the years, Fast-a-thon have turned out to be an event that provides a common platform for people from diverse background and different cultures to come forward, experience Fasting and join hands for a noble cause.” said Feroz Moideen, General Manager, Hyatt Plaza shopping mall. “ We look forward to an even bigger support from our community this year, as we try to reach out to the greater Africa where more than 239 million people have little or no access to food.” he added

As part of the event, Hyatt Plaza will also organize an Iftar party for all the registered participants. The activities packed Iftar evening will offer free henna painting, face painting for the kids, and free health checkups organized by PHCC. Hyatt Plaza will also launch their Ramadan Charity drive on the second day of Fast-a-thon. The charity drive will include an exhibition that demonstrate the grave situation in Africa and will have a donation box in the mall throughout the Holy month, where people can donate to make a difference.

Registration is currently open for Fast-a-thon and customers have the option to register through email at [email protected] or in person at the customer service of Hyatt Plaza. They can also call Hyatt Plaza customer service at 44999666. The participation is only limited to non Muslims. All participants will be invited for an orientation session on Friday, 04 July, 2014 at 04.00 PM in Hyatt Plaza Food Court.
