Qatar Museums and Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) have launched "Stay Home and Be Safe" campaign, inviting families in Qatar to celebrate Garangao.
This initiative is part of the ongoing partnership between Qatar Museums and the Hamad Medical Corporation with the aim of encouraging families to maintain a safe social distance while celebrating in the same traditional way by sharing photos of children in Garangao dresses.
The submitted photos will be published on the Instagram page of Qatar's Museums and the Hamad Medical Corporation, to show the joy and happiness of children during the holy month of Ramadan.
Garangao is a Ramadan tradition that is widely celebrated by children throughout the State of Qatar and the Arab Gulf region, as children usually wander during the night in the neighborhoods and sing traditional songs that mark the occasion and receive gifts and sweets from their families and friends.
The initiative supports the broader efforts of the Ministry of Public Health, Hamad Medical Corporation and PHCC to reduce the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), with the aim of encouraging social responsibility by encouraging society to stay at home.
The initiative also aims to enhance virtual connections between families and friends, allowing the tradition of Garangao to be preserved and celebrated despite these difficult times.
