The last day of October (31st) is celebrated in most parts of the globe as Halloween. In Christian traditions, Halloween is dedicated to remembering the dead, including saints, martyrs, and all the faithful departed.
And although it's widely-believed that the occasion began solely as a Christian holiday, different religions have started to adapt the activities being held to make Halloween celebrations stand out yearly.
Activities include trick-or-treating, attending costume parties, carving pumpkins into jack-o'-lanterns, lighting bonfires, apple bobbing, divination games, playing pranks, visiting haunted attractions, telling scary stories, and watching horror films.
In Qatar, though costume parties in public places aren't encouraged, trick-or-treating is on the other hand quite a common thing—especially among children. Muslims even have their own version of the famous candy-hunting pursuit called Garangao when children get dressed up in festival robes, carry a bag around their neck, and go around in groups in the neighborhood, singing special songs, knocking the doors of neighbors, and receiving nuts and candy from them.
