A new art exhibition opened a week ago in Qatar and it’s not your typical art exhibit. On the first of February popular artist Lee Lee Nam from South Korea opened his first exhibition in Qatar. His exhibition is open until the 21st of February after being extended.
So, what is so special about this art show that you have to go see it? Contemporary art is created by reinterpreting the old and traditional. Lee Nam is re-imagining European classical paintings as well as Korean ink painting into digital art pieces. This unique art is to represent Korea’s conceptual and experimental art and to show it to the world through Qatar. Lee Nam uses digital technology and even recreates pop art and is thus a perfect comment on contemporary art and media.
The exhibiting of Lee Nam’s art was possible through the Korean ASAN Gallery and KAC with collaboration of the Korean Embassy and the Korean Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA). Qatar strives for more international awareness of local and has had Qatari artists’ exhibitions in South Korea, thus now bringing a famous South Koreans artist here.
The exhibition is unique, influential and definitely worth having a look at. Beautiful aesthetics and something to learn at Katara Art Center, so art-mire the pieces of a world artist brought right to you to Doha. Let us know what you think about the exhibition and travelling artists!
