CrossFit ERADA, a CrossFit affiliate founded by Qatari nationals in Qatar, is organizing the first edition of Saturday Night Showdown, an exciting new series of fitness competitions in the booming Gulf state.

The Saturday Night Showdown is taking place on November 14, 2015 at 5:30 pm on the multi-purpose courts of The Sheraton Doha Resort and Convention Hotel. It is one of a series of events that focus on the fitness, endurance and concentration of the player.

Sixty athletes, male and female, will participate in the showdown, at which every participant will perform customized consecutive exercises and weightlifting. Each player will have a dedicated judge who will grant points on their performance. The players are divided into two sections: scaled for beginners and RX for more experienced athletes.

The top three winners in each section will win cash prizes from Sports Corner and gift vouchers from Hundler Qatar.

With the support of the ministry of Youth and Sports, Saturday Night Showdown is presented by Sports Corner and sponsored by Hundlur, Again Faster; Xendurance Supplements and Quest Nutrition.

Abdulla Al-Matwi, one of the founders of CrossFit ERADA, said: CrossFit ERADA is a young CrossFit club founded by Qataris in Qatar. We aim to build up the Saturday Night Showdown to become the leading sporting event of its kind staged not just in Qatar, but anywhere in the region. Our goal is to encourage Qatar’s present and future athletes and the future generations to develop a broad and inclusive fitness regime that will enhance their competitive advantage in their everyday life as well asin their sporting ambitions. This sport raises the physical and mental abilities of the player and pushes them to challenge themselves.

We thank the Ministry of Youth and Sports, which has lent its support to Saturday Night Showdown, as well as all the sponsors and supporters who helped us to bring this competition to life. We call on everyone to attend and encourage them to be part of this exciting game,Al-Matwi added.

Qatar's endeavors to position itself as a regional sporting hub underlines its commitment to establishing the country as a world-class sporting venue; thanks to the guidelines established in the nation’s 2030 Vision. The Saturday Night Showdown is part of that ongoing master plan, Al-Matwi concluded.

The Saturday Night Showdown is free and open to all audiences. The exciting sport pushes players to unleash their potential and push the limits of their abilities. It is an integration of soul, mind and body that creates the required balance of skills to accomplish great results. Robert Anthony, 2014’s Fittest Man in Qatar, and Steph Chung, 2015’s Fittest Women in Qatar, are the leading trainers to help people reach that level.

CrossFit ERADA was founded in January, 2015, by a group of young Qataris, and has succeeded in a short time to attract many players and promote the sport among youth.
