Have you ever wondered what it’s like at a Qatari Wedding? Here is a sneak peek at what you can expect at a Qatari Wedding.
Events prior to wedding ceremony:
There are several parties prior to the actual wedding ceremony including Hidiya, the gift ceremony, and the Henna party. Henna, which is a natural substance made out of powdered leaves that women often use as a temporary tattoo to create intricate designs for their hands and feet.

Wedding ceremony
A Qatari wedding ceremony usually lasts for 4-6 hours. In Qatari weddings, males celebrate in tents and females in halls. But later on during the evening the first-degree male relatives of the groom and of the bride walk into the hall where females are.

Wedding attire
Ladies, get your gowns on and gentlemen get your thobes and swords on. However, if you are not familiar with the thobe, you may wear a suit or any other suitable attire for weddings.
Of course it is the groom’s and the bride’s special night, which is why the groom stands-out from the rest of the gentlemen by wearing a black cloak over this white thobe. The bride wears a traditional white gown.
Why do the gentlemen need swords you ask? Well, it is because these swords are to perform a traditional Qatari traditional sword dance. If you are not any good at dancing, it’s alright! You don’t need to dance, you can still sit back and enjoy the evening.
On the women's side there's tons of money (literally Qatari bills) being thrown around on the dance floor section. Seeing is believing.

Music
Ladies, do you like loud music? Well then you will LOVE attending a Qatari wedding. The music will have your heart jumping and dancing to the catchy Arabic beats.
Gentlemen enjoy a more traditional Qatari beat that you can sword dance to.
Food
Come with an empty stomach because the food is just OH MY GOSH! TO DIE FOR! Array of DELICIOUS, MOUTH-WATERING food. Don’t even let me get started on dessert! Khaleeji goodness!
