Al- Bawassil Diabetes Camp Closes Its 17th Edition In ASPIRE Academy

The 14th Al Bawasil Diabetes Camp edition, organized by the Qatar Diabetes Association a member of Qatar Foundation in favor of both boys and girls living with Diabetes aged between 7 and 11 from 28th January to 1st February 2017, has it closing ceremony today at ASPIRE Academy for Sports Excellence.

The camp organized by QDA in collaboration with Qatar Foundation, and under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed Bin Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, saw the participation of 60 kids representing 12 countries; Qatar, as a hosting nation, Morocco, Lebanon, Jordan, Sudan, Libya, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Afghanistan, Oman and Iran all took part in the intensive training program.

ASPIRE has a close relationship with the QDA and has teamed up in previous years to host the camp for the tenth time.

Commenting on the event, Dr. Abdulla Al- Hamaq, Executive Director of the QDA said:” our goal from organizing this camp for the children with diabetes is to make them feel happy and they are not alone who have diabetes and we are all here to support them and help them live normal life with this ailment. The idea of this camp is also to give them hope and provide them with the desire of challenging the ailment and to become active members in their community.”

Dr. Al-Hamaq seized the occasion of the closing ceremony of the 17th edition to thank ASPIRE Academy for hosting this event yearly by accommodating the participants, stressing the excellent relationship between the academy and the QDA. He also deeply thanks SASOL Co. for their generous support for the children gifts (Salem & Sara, Healthy Park games), also special thanks for all other donor’s companies.

ASPIRE's support for the camp and awareness campaign stems from its core strategy of supporting community and social activities for Qatari nationals and residents alike.

The participants from all countries praised the camp and QDA for giving them this opportunity to meet and benefit from the advice and care they received. They also praised the good information the organizers provided them with, and thanks Qatar for the hospitality and well treatment during their stay.
