Vodafone Qatar today named Mr. Fahad Mohammed Al-Naimi as its chosen participant in their “World of Difference” initiative for the year 2015.

Now in its fifth year, the “World of Difference” is an initiative under Vodafone’s corporate social responsibility programme. This unique flagship initiative is a first of its kind in Qatar in which Vodafone gives people the opportunity to receive funding while they work for 6-12 months for their local charity of choice and undertake projects to help the community in Qatar. The projects can focus on any area, cause or social issue as long as it meets a local need and is 100% non-profit.

Mr. Al-Naimi will be working with Mental Health Friends Association “Weyak” on providing “Integral Life” training for 6 months, starting November 2015. Integral Life Practice (ILP) is a comprehensive framework for human development that covers all the aspects of a human’s wellbeing and his domains of life. It aims at developing individuals through acquiring vital skills that ultimately allow them to live a productive and meaningful life, which in turn improves their mental health. It aims at developing skills such as: Emotional Intelligence, Critical Thinking, Physical Intelligence and System Thinking and much more. Working with “Weyak”, Mr. Al-Naimi will be providing this comprehensive training to the association’s members.

“We at Vodafone believe in the power of individuals as a catalyst for positive change in society which is why we have run the World of Difference programme since the arrival of Vodafone in Qatar. This year we are proud to be supporting Mr Al-Naimi in his quest to tackle mental illness in collaboration with Weyak,” said Dana Haidan, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility, Vodafone Qatar.

Mr. Al-Naimi has a rich employment, research and volunteering history. He started his career in 1982 as a Maintenance Engineer at Qatar Fertilizing Company (QAFCO) and most recently consulted for the State Audit Bureau and Ashghal. Prior to that Mr. Al-Naimi held the position of Head of Strategic Planning at Qatar Foundation and before that the Head of Planning at Kahramaa. He spent 6 months this year volunteering with the national team combating obesity and diabetes in Qatar and spent 2013 and 2014 volunteering with the Qatar Red Crescent.

“Weyak” was established as a non-profit association in 2012 by the Ministry of Social Affairs. It aims to provide support to individuals in Qatar in need of psychological support through relevant programs and to raise awareness in the community of the importance of mental health. Moreover, through its programmes it promotes the concept of adopting a general life philosophy that allows individuals to act efficiently and successfully to unleash their capabilities and employ them to achieve social, behavioural and psychological harmony which will aid in the prevention of mental illnesses.
