Uber today announced the launch of a new ride option - UberXL - in Doha. Catering to families, groups of friends, professionals looking for extra space to spread out during their daily commute, or anyone heading to or from the airport with luggage, UberXL users can now request a ride that can fit six people or more.

The UberXL option gives people a little more room to move. Whether they’re out shopping, heading out with their friends, travelling with luggage, or out with the whole family, UberXL is a reliable, spacious ride. Groups of friends using UberXL can also use a number of features on the Uber app to make their ride more convenient and reliable, like Split Fare to easily share the cost of their trip, or pick up others along the way with the Multiple Destination feature. Commenting on the launch, Hamdi Tabbaa, General Manager of Uber in Qatar said: “Since Uber’s launch in Doha four years ago, we have witnessed substantial growth and an increase in demand for convenient and affordable transportation solutions, and have thus been working continuously to widening our offerings.

"Bringing UberXL to Doha means that we can offer users a new option, whether they need to get their family to the mall or travel to the airport, they can now request the UberXL option and ride with extra space to make sure they get to their destination comfortably and reliably at an affordable price point.”

With the launch of UberXL, riders can now choose between 4 options on the app; UberGO, UberX, UberXL, and UberVIP for qualifying riders - and are able to see the driver’s photo, name and car registration and watch their car arrive in real-time on a map. Users can also share their trip details with friends and family so they’ll know exactly when they’ll arrive.

Since launching in Doha, Uber has expanded to cover city of Doha as well as the Suburban areas of Al-Wakrah and Al-Rayyan to service as many people as possible and provide them with reliable and affordable transportation at the push of a button in around their cities.
