talabat, one of MENA’s leading platforms for everyday deliveries, recently organized a successful Road Safety Week in Qatar, showcasing talabat’s commitment to rider safety and emphasizing the importance of safe driving practices among its riders.

The event served as a reminder of traffic rules and regulations that are essential for rider safety as well as the safety of other motorists on the road at all times - equipping riders with the necessary knowledge and tools to do so.

The event was attended by over 150 riders and featured informative sessions conducted by two esteemed doctors from the Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), who shared valuable insights into road safety and provided riders with practical tips to stay safe while out on deliveries.

This emphasized the significance of road safety and its direct impact on rider well-being - instructing riders to stay hydrated throughout the day, wear their seatbelts, maintain the speed limit while driving, refrain from the usage of mobile phones while driving, respect road signals and abide by traffic regulations.

Francisco Miguel De Sousa, Managing Director of talabat in Qatar, shared his perspective on Road Safety Week: "Rider safety is a high priority for talabat as we want riders to be well-prepared and take extra caution while delivering orders - Road Safety Week is one such initiative of many that helps us keep them informed and educated throughout the year."

talabat aims to foster a culture of safety among riders, cooperating with third-party logistics partners and local authorities such as the Traffic Department to support these ongoing efforts throughout the year. talabat has also integrated telematics for two-wheeler vehicles which capitalizes the combined use of navigation, safety and security to retrieve data, facilitating to monitor the riding patterns, braking, acceleration rate, speed and use of mobile phones while riding on the road. This in-app safety solution provides necessary insights that help to assess risky and unruly driving habits, thereby improving rider safety and driving behaviour.

talabat's efforts to ensure rider safety extend beyond the Road Safety Week event, with the company conducting frequent training sessions, sending regular safety communications to riders in order to ensure that they are well informed about the latest safety guidelines and best practices, and more. Additionally, talabat has deployed personnel on the ground to actively spread important information and ensure that riders are adhering to traffic rules and regulations at all times.

By organizing Road Safety Week and implementing other safety initiatives during the year, talabat helps keep riders and other motorists safe while reinforcing its commitment to the well-being of its riders.
