Every Thursday, ILQ features a different Qatari startup in our ‘Startup of the Week’ segment. Qatar has some of the most creative, unique, and impactful startups in the region, and we cover them all across a variety of industries in Doha—from fashion and beauty, to food and dining, health, education, technology, and more!
This week, we're dry cleaning for Washnow—an on-demand and Doha-based laundry app that gets your laundry picked up, cleaned, and delivered in just 48 hours!
The 2-year-old mobile app, which was incubated at the Ministry of Transport & Communication's Digital incubation Centre, helps people save time for important things like spendig quality time with family and friends by offering to wash your clothes at your time of convenience, and delivering it neat and tidy right at your doorstep!
One of the founders, Mufeed Ahmed, told ILoveQatar.Net that the convenience that they offer is completed when the customer installs the app, schedule a pickup and delivery date, and receives their beloved clothes back without the usual hassle of driving to a laundry shop, finding parking, and leaving their laundry there just to repeat the same steps after two days.
Washnow started as a premium service but as soon as the founders saw the app being used and adapted by busy and single millenials as part of their weekly routine, the team has decided to widen their target audience by making the app accessible to everyone.
"We started only in the West Bay area but we're covering almost all of Qatar at the moment—right from Ras Abu Aboud to Lusail city and as far as Al Kheesa to Barwa City."
The tech business has reached more than 200 customers so far since its incubation and it's mainly because of the quality that they provide, which according to Mufeed is, at the affordable pricing structure that makes them a market leader.
The Washnow team is overwhelmed by how people use the mobile app on a weekly basis. "We are constantly making changes to the "laundry delivery" concept to accommodate more demands as well as improving processes to keep up with the quality of our services."
When asked about his advice for Doha's aspiring entrepreneurs' community, Mufeed has this to say: "The best time to start is now. There are multiple institutions in the ecosystem for your assistance, so make use of them. Build a great team. Your idea is useless unless put into practice."
Mufeed's fellow founders include Saleh Al Khulaifi, Faraj Abdulla, Mufeed Ahmed and Rahid Kader.
Washnow operates 7 days a week. You can schedule a pickup and delivery date on the app—which is available on both Google Play and App Store.
Prices start as low as QAR 3.00 per item
