This week, we're impaling the metal skewers on Silversticks Grill and Restaurant (SGR)—a family-owned restaurant aiming to become Qatar's one-stop place for everything grilled!
Their diverse menu is composed of rice meals, burgers, pasta, and shawarma, but their main focus is on grilled food, according to Managing Director Raasum Sulaiman Sait. "We are a neighborhood grill that serves good food and puts our customers in a good mood every time they dine with us. Easy on the pocket, with warm and friendly service, you'll surely crave for more grilled meat once you get a taste of home at SGR," he continued.
The restaurant got its name from the giant silver skewers that impale the grilled meat which comes in every order. Its Turkish head chef, who has experienced managing his own restaurant in almost every GCC country, makes sure to always serve the food hot and tasty—one of SGR's core legacies.
Our top picks from SRG's menu are their signature lentil soup, mouth-watering shawarma, juicy lamb chops, flavorful chicken tikka, and mutton chops. On the other hand, their famous platter contains four silver sticks including meat kofta, chicken kofta, meat kabab and shish tawook.
Their first branch in Bin Mahmoud area has been up for roughly a year now and the food that it serves are on-the-go, affordable, and tasty all at the same time. "Our food is not specific to any nationality. We're open for everyone. Our diverse nationality of customers keeps coming back mainly because we have something for every nationality. That's what separates SGR from its competitors," shared Raasum.
Pleased by their customers' mostly positive feedback, Raasum also noted that they have a high rate of customer retention and this fact makes them more inspired to deliver top-notch quality and service. He also mentioned that his entire family developed SGR independently and they didn't seek help from either the Qatar Business Incubation Centre (QBIC) and Digital Incubation Centre (DIC).
When asked whether startups like SGR are beneficial to Qatar's economic growth, this is what Raasum has to say: ''Not only in Qatar, actually. But more globally. It is advantageous in a way that SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises) are the life blood of one country and despite the setbacks, they can still contribute to a country's overall progress as long as hard work and mutual understanding are put together in consideration."
SGR is active on Zomato and while dine-in is limited—as the parking space in the area is most of the time congested—takeaway and delivery services are more preferred. They are rated 60 QR for 2 people on Zomato. Besides dine-in, takeaway and delivery, SGR also does party orders and party caterings during the winter season.
