This week, we're featuring Sajdah, the world's first smart educational prayer rug that teaches new Muslims and children the second most important pillar in Islam. The ground-breaking product will be launched by Thakaa Technologies, founded by Abdulrahman Saleh Khamis, the innovator, co-founder, and CEO of Thakaa Technologies, together with Chief Growth Officer and co-founder, Abdul Ali.

What makes Sajdah unique

The innovative, technically equipped prayer rug will help Muslims, both adults and kids, to learn about the mandatory religious ritual done five times a day at set times. Muslims will be able to learn different prayers, proper postures when praying and memorize Qur’an.

The mat system boasts a step-by-step learning experience for over thirty types of prayers. It has an integrated LED screen so users can read and memorize the Holy Qur'an while practising prayers. It's also the first prayer rug that is connected to the smartphone. Sajdah uses cutting edge technology to monitor the user's movements and can correct postures that may spoil prayers.

It also has a prayer-tracker through the app that will benefit especially parents so that they can track their children's prayers and correct them if they made mistakes. The instructions and Qur'an verses are both in English and Arabic.

On startup and incubation

Earlier this year, Sajdah has been selected for the incubation by Qatar Foundation’s QSTP (Qatar Science & Technology Park). CEO Abdulrahman Saleh Khamis was also part of Qatar Science and Technology Park’s (QSTP’s) XLR8 program, which took place from February to April last year. It's eight cycles included contestants from season 11 of Qatar Foundation’s (QF’s) hugely popular edutainment TV show Stars of Science – where he was one of the finalists.

XLR8 program offers intensive training and mentorship, enabling promising innovators to transform tech-based ideas into commercially viable businesses. According to Abdulrahman Saleh Khamis, the 10-week unique program gave them insights into developing a start-up, viable product, and validating the idea with potential customers.

“As a start-up, we strive to build a strong focus on delivering superior quality and services to our clients. The launch of our Sajdah product lets us start setting the benchmark for the high standard of digital products. As our world continues to get smarter, so must our praying solutions. We are thrilled to lead from the front,” says CEO Abdulrahman Saleh Khamis.

Sajdah's bright future

Just recently, Sajdah has been nominated for World Summit Award 2020 as the most innovative solution in Learning & Education from Qatar. The innovative prayer rug will be released very soon.
