Every week, ILQ features a different Qatari startup in our ‘Startup of the Week’ segment. Qatar has some of the most creative, unique, and impactful startups in the region, and we cover them all across a variety of industries in Doha, from fashion and beauty to food and dining, health, education, and more!
According to the Qatar Planning and Statistics Authority, the printing market size in Qatar exceeded one billion Qatari Riyals in 2017 with an 18% average annual increase over the last five years. With these statistics on hand, the need to provide all these services is high, thus, startup businesses like PrintLe become a necessity. They have all the necessary tools to give the most convenient and best quality printing services online.
In an interview with Anas Rasras, the CEO of PrintLe, he mentioned that their company aims to revolutionize the printing industry in Qatar through immediate automation and ground-breaking streamlining processes. As an e-commerce platform that increases the visibility and competitiveness of the local-printing-service providers, it facilitates the printing procurement process for businesses and institutions of clients.
According to Anas:
"PrintLe idea was born in the Arab Innovation Academy program organized by QSTP in January 2019, when the team became one of the top 10 winning startups in the program. Two months later, in March, we won the Quick Startup competition organized by Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar, where the team was given the opportunity to join QBIC Lean Startup program for the remaining five weeks. Finally, the biggest accomplishment happened on 2 May, when PrintLē was officially rewarded a QBIC incubation and a QR 100K seed fund to start operating locally."
Aside from providing a platform to manage the printing needs of possible clients and business partners, PrintLe also makes life convenient for them. Gone are the days of manually going to printing shops, literally looking for possible suppliers and getting the best quality print out results.
The following services set PrintLe apart from similar companies in Qatar:
Anas is happy with the response from customers so far:
"Clients loved the idea because it is an effective solution to the problems they face regularly. Some clients look for convenience, some want high-quality products, others are looking for the best prices. We are more like a middle man between clients and printing service providers in the country. In fact, the local service providers represent our sole partners, as we care about providing them with values, the same way we care about our clients. By doing so, differentiate ourselves in different areas."
To be able to avail of PrintLe's printing services, one has to go to their website and undergo the following steps:
1. Specify and choose the printing service you want to avail. This serves as your order slip. (See pictures 1 and 2).
2. Submit your order then chose between different local service providers on the list.
3. Compare between the different printing companies based on the customer reviews, prices, delivery time, and other services specified in each company. (See pictures 3 and 4).
4. Choose the printing company that meets your requirements to get a quotation. (See picture 5)
5. Repeat the process to get multiple quotations from other companies.
6. Submit your order and keep track of its status on the website. (See picture 6 and 7)
In case you're wondering how does this entire process that's 100% free makes any money, it's plain and simple; they share profit with the printing companies in Doha that they refer in their online procurement process. They apply a special rate to these companies and charge them for getting them clients.
When you're starting from the bottom, there's no other way but up. This vision is what PrintLe has been trying to incorporate in their business. By creating jobs, reducing resources waste, (time, effort, and materials), and increasing the life quality of the people in this industry, everything seems to be going the right direction. In addition, PrintLe has been built with the purpose of expanding globally to create even more value and benefit the local economy in the near future.
After setting up a business that is moving from strength to strength in Qatar, Anas would like to share some advice with young entrepreneurs who are interested in establishing startups of their own. He tells them that
"Qatar has a variety of business incubators and entrepreneurship centers. Use them."
