Startup of the Week: Personal deliveries made easy with Pass Delivery

Every week, ILoveQatar.net features a Qatari startup in our ‘Startup of the Week' segment. Qatar has some of the most creative, unique, and impactful startups in the region, and we cover them all across a variety of industries in Doha—from fashion and beauty to food and dining, health, education, technology, and more!

This week, we're featuring Pass Delivery - a 24/7 mobile delivery platform in the country. Conceptualized and founded in July 2020, Pass Delivery was officially launched in April 2021 and has since been available on both iOS and Android. It is one of Qatar’s first peer-to-peer instant delivery solutions created to simplify and make things easier for people who wish to deliver or receive goods round the clock anywhere in the country.

Can’t leave the house to give a gift to a friend? Reached the airport but left your passport at home? Pass Delivery is the solution! We reached out to the Pass Delivery team to know the story behind this startup and to learn how you can get an item delivered to anyone, anywhere through this app!

Pass Delivery: Simply download the app and follow a simple registration process, select your pick up and drop off location, make the payment, and confirm the request. Our Pass drivers immediately accept orders and deliver them in no time. You can track the driver in real-time until your item is delivered. You can also get delivery estimates through our website.

ILQ: How did the idea and the name come about?

Pass Delivery: It all started with the founders realizing a huge market gap when it comes to non-food delivery convenience apps. Just like everyone else, the team sometimes also forgets things or needs paperwork to be sent somewhere urgently for signatures. Upon research, we realized that there is a lack of an innovative, intelligent app that just focuses on delivering things from point A to B instantly. We also noticed that there is a huge focus on apps that are doing almost everything from groceries, food deliveries, shopping, etc. for their customers.

With Qatar’s population increasing at a steady pace, people will definitely have more demands, which are beyond food delivery and groceries especially in situations when one doesn’t have the time to make a return journey physically due to traffic, distance, or timing. The idea of Pass Delivery is to simplify your life!

We’re glad to have come across PEYK, a leading P2P delivery platform from the UK, although the founders had an option of building everything in-house, from scratch. The team settled on partnering with someone who shares the same vision and has a few years worth of experience in a bigger market in terms of platform and infrastructure development. We were happy to connect with Mr. Salman Moghimi over LinkedIn from where initial conversations turned into this long-term partnership.

Finally, the name Pass was a eureka moment for one of the founders, Mr. Khalifa Essa Al Kubaisi. Mr. Khalifa was brainstorming different names with his friends and cousins and then suddenly 'Pass' came to his mind, which is not only a simple name but is also the narrative that we’re trying to push, that everything is simple with Pass starting from its name to its app to its core purpose.

Pass Delivery: As a company that just started 4 months ago, our next step is to integrate the existing ecosystem of drivers on the roads of Qatar to be a part of Pass and expand our network. We hope to have zero carbon emission deliveries in Qatar and the first step is to use existing vehicles and not add to the traffic and pollution.

We are also actively looking for partnerships and collaborations within the local and regional markets. Pass is also open to B2C deliveries, hence committing to a long-term relationship with banks, corporations, startups to be their official delivery partner.

At Pass, we believe in community engagement and unified growth. In addition to our daily P2P deliveries, we are already collaborating with home businesses, start-ups, SMEs by providing them with round-the-clock delivery solutions by becoming their official delivery partner. So if you have something you’ve created, we’ll be more than happy to deliver it for you!
