This week we spotlight a startup that offers promotions and discounts across the Qatar market!
The concept of BuyGather is to help provide consumers and businesses with different offers and deals in Qatar, and in the region later on. This startup supports two type of deals. Instant deals: where customers can get the coupon for free from the site and then they can redeem it with a business, and collective deals, where each deal has a minimum number of buyers in order to be activated, for example, a huge discount on a trip will be given only if 5 customers sign up for this deal using their credit cards.
Founded by Shadi Hudaifa and Ali Al-Marri, BuyGather aims to enhance the Qatar market through providing deals and discounts.
“I started thinking about the idea when I figured out that firstly none of the available sites uses the collective purchasing power of customers to allow them to save more,” Hudaifa said. “Secondly, most of the platforms that provide discounts change the user experience of those who used to do online shopping, therefore, our platform is a typical e-commerce site with all main functionalities like shopping cart, products review, companies profile pages, etc.”
BuyGather won the Qatar Business Incubation Center (QBIC) Demo Day and is currently going through the activation phase for 3 months, which will then be followed by the final incubation for 2 years. “We hope that during this period we can get our startup to the next level with the help and supervision of QBIC,” Hudaifa added.
BuyGather is available online as a website and has launched its instant deals service. The phone application is currently being developed and will also be launched soon.
