The Ministry Transport and Communications said today that it's Smart Qatar (TASMU) program will play a pivotal role in the Qatar Information Technology and Communication Conference and Exhibition - QITCOM 2019 by bringing together local and international innovators and entrepreneurs and major technology companies.

The Ministry said that during the conference, the program will not only showcase the main projects and achievements, but will also work to communicate with various entities in order to develop prospects for cooperation and coordination between these entities and put the Qatar Smart Vision into practice, adding that in designing the program, its objectives were aligned with the pillars of Qatar National Vision 2030 and contribute to the achievement of these pillars.

The Ministry noted that the program plays a vital role in promoting Qatar's transformation into a sustainable and technology-based country, which oversees the development and application of smart technology in five priority sectors across the country including transportation, healthcare, logistics, environment and sports.

The Ministry of Transport and Communications is organizing the activities of this edition of QITCOM 2019, which will be held under the slogan "Smart and Safe Cities" from October 29 to November 1, 2019.

HE Reem Al Mansouri, Assistant Undersecretary for Digital Society Development at the Ministry of Communications and Communications, said that this year's edition of QITCOM attracts more than 300 exhibitors, 100 startups, 300 innovators and entrepreneurs.

She added that the conference seeks to serve as a one-stop-shop of world-class smart technology and provide an opportunity for developers and innovators to showcase their technologies and share advanced knowledge.

Al Mansouri said that the program plays a pivotal role in QITCOM, where it will link various government departments, communicate with technology companies on investments, work with research institutions to collaborate in innovation and connect with local startups to support their efforts in developing ideas.

"Thus, QITCOM provides a platform to TASMU program to find the missing puzzle pieces and then complete Smart Qatar Vision.", she added.

The Smart Qatar (TASMU) program is developing a central platform that will serve as the foundation for Qatar's transformation into a smart country, as well as fostering intersectoral collaboration and sharing of knowledge and information to encourage innovation.

This central platform will be the main foundation for Smart Qatar (TASMU), which will connect all sectors to enable smart solutions.

The Smart Qatar (TASMU) program is committed to improving the quality of life for the people of Qatar across five priority sectors.

In the transport sector, for example, the program aims to facilitate traffic through a safe and environmentally friendly transport network, reduce road delays by 20%, reduce road deaths to 6 deaths per 100,000, and reduce vehicle emissions for regular trips by 10%.

The Smart Qatar (TASMU) program will bring together government entities, local SMEs, large multinational corporations, research and academic institutions, startups and NGOs to create tangible, life-changing applications that address the challenges and meet the current and future aspirations and needs of Qatar.
