Sheraton Doha hotel, one of Doha’s most recognised landmarks, will be closed from today due to major renovation and will re-open in December this year, Katara Hospitality, which owns Sheraton, said yesterday.

The transformation the 32-year-old five-star hotel includes the full makeover of all guest rooms, public areas, recreation facilities and the conference and meetings space. Its food and beverage offer will also be enhanced. “This is a strategic decision. When the Sheraton Doha re-opens in December 2014, it will strengthen its position as Doha’s most iconic property, with the highest standards of luxurious and modern facilities in all aspects of its operations,” said the spokesperson of Katara Hospitality.

The company said that all customers with room, food and beverage, or event bookings would be offered alternative options at one of the company’s other Doha properties.
