Two Qatari businesswomen named in Forbes '50 Most Powerful Businesswomen' in the MENA region

Vice-Chairman of NBK Holdings; Founder, Chairperson and CEO of Amwal; and Chairperson INJAZ Qatar and INJAZ Al Arab Sheikha Hanadi bint Nasser Al-Thani and Managing Director of Business Development, Deputy CEO & Chief Business Officer of Qatar Financial Centre Authority Sheikha Alanoud Bint Hamad Al-Thani have been named in the MENA list of '50 Most Powerful Businesswomen' as numbers 8 and 47 respectively.

This year’s list of MENA’s most influential and successful businesswomen features women from 17 different business sectors and represent 19 different nationalities. The United Arab Emirates and Egypt topped the list with 7 representatives each and Qatar is one of the newcomers in the list of 12 newcomers.

According to Forbes, the methodology they use when considering who should make the list depends on the following criteria, with each point assigned a weight:

  • Revenues, assets, AUM, market capitalization, and number of employees
  • Accomplishments achieved over the last year by the businesswomen
  • Designation
  • Overall work experience
  • CSR and other initiatives led by the businesswomen
  • Editorial points
