Qatar currently has an automobile assembly plant and hopes to begin manufacturing vehicles by next year, according to a senior official.
Speaking at ‘Made in Qatar Exhibition’, Sheikh Thani bin Ali bin Saud Al Thani told reporters yesterday that an automobile assembly plant here is churning out vehicles but they are assembled ones.
The management of the plant has given assurances that by 2016 they will start manufacturing the same automobiles that are being now assembled here, said Sheikh Thani.
A member of the board of Qatar International Conciliation and Arbitration Centre, Sheikh Thani said, it is known Qatar has an advanced hydrocarbon industry and is new to other industrial sectors.
