The Ambassador of India to Qatar Dr. Deepak Mittal, in an interview with The Peninsula Qatar , talked about India's bilateral relations with Qatar and also mentioned that Doha would have the campus of an Indian University here along with the opening of three more Indian schools later this year.
Dr. Mittal was talking about how the Qatar and Indian investment task force was moving ahead to becoming full-fledged partners, after having decades of trade relations with each other, especially since trade between the two countries is expected to reach up to approximately $11 billion, despite the coronavirus pandemic, by the end of India's financial year which is next month.
Qatar is planning on opening a Qatar Investment Authority office in Indian and the two countries already have an Air Bubble agreement since August 2020 due to which people can travel between Qatar and India by following COVID-19 protocols and quarantine regulations as per both of the countries.
Qatar and India are looking to expand their bilateral trade relations and Dr. Mittal told The Peninsula Qatar that India was looking for Qatar's participation as "an important and a reliable energy supplier", and as a participant in its investment programme which involved "$60bn worth of investments in energy infrastructure development, including its LNG gas terminals, city-based gas distribution centres and the national gas pipeline grids."
