The visits headed by Qatar Rail Managing Director Eng. Abdulla Abdulaziz Al Subaie, CEO Eng. Saad Ahmed Al Muhannadi and Deputy CEO Eng. Hamad Ibrahim Al Bishri, came as part of Qatar Rail’s Ramadan 2015 initiative “This Ramadan: a simple thank you”; dedicated to over 24,000 laborers working on the Doha Metro construction sites.

The group visits involving management teams and employees saw a pleasant atmosphere where Qatar Rail top managers joined workers for iftar at Barwa city accommodation site, Qatar University station’s Ramadan tent and the Education City station’s canteen.

Visiting the workers’ accommodation, Qatar Rail Managing Director Eng. Abdulla Abdulaziz Al Subaie thanked the workers of the Doha Metro Gold Line project for their hard work.

He said: “Because you are an integral part of our projects’ success, I want to thank each and every one of you for your continuous efforts, commitment and dedication in helping realise the Qatar Rail vision”. He added: “We gather during the holy month of Ramadan to celebrate our solidarity as one family; we want you to feel that Doha as well as Qatar Rail are your second home and to be assured that your safety, security and comfort remain our priority.”

Qatar Rail is committed to ensuring that its workers are provided with the best possible welfare facilities both on and off the construction sites. With this in mind, the company has adopted and incorporated the Welfare Standards for Migrant Workers (developed by Qatar Foundation) into all design and build contracts.

Similarly, Eng. Saad Ahmed Al Muhannadi, CEO of Qatar Rail visited the workers canteen at the Education City station early this week, and shared Iftar with the team. 10 workers were awarded on this occasion for the high performance they showed during the past year.

“There is no better time than Ramadan to gather together in good spirits, and show how grateful we are for all the efforts you have put into realising the railway projects”, Al Muhannadi said. “We are happy to confirm Qatar Rail's permanent readiness to extend a helping hand to all of you; our long-term partners whose daily contribution is making the railway mission possible”.

Likewise, Qatar Rail DCEO Eng. Hamad Ibrahim Al Bishri visited the Red Line workers at the Qatar University station. Breaking the fast and sharing prayers with the workers, Al Bishri wished the team a blessed Ramadan, looking forward to more persistence and dedication in bringing Qatar's railway network to life.

The iftars received a great response from the workers as they provided the opportunity to socialise outside working hours and understand more their role in securing the company’s progress. During the iftars, special gifts were handed to every employee.

The Ramadan Initiative comes as part of Qatar Rail’s continuous efforts to give back to its workers to improve their welfare. The company has adopted the custom of holding yearly activities during Ramadan to bring its workforce closer together.
