Food Security and Environment committee of Qatar Chamber held a meeting on Sunday to discuss issues related to restaurants and food companies.
The restaurants committee of the Food Security and Environment committee reviewed the current situation of restaurants and food companies and examined the views restaurants and food company owners with regards to the obstacles they face.
The meeting touched on a draft decision of the Ministry of Public Health on the training of food handlers and its expected impact on restaurants and food companies. The meeting also discussed a proposal to conduct a price assessment study in restaurants and food companies through a specialized company to hold that study, which will then be discussed with the consumer protection department.
The meeting dealt with the future of cooperation between restaurant owners and inviting the country's major food companies to join the restaurant committee. The participants also discussed the possibility of establishing alliances in the restaurant marketing to take advantage of collective capabilities, reduce costs and increase productivity.
Head of the committee Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Obaidly pointed out that these topics will continue to be discussed during the upcoming meetings, stressing the need to support and help startups in this sector to overcome the challenges that may face. He called for the need to establish alliances between companies operating in the restaurant sector to ensure their development and reduce operating costs.
