Ooredoo, Qatar’s leading communications company, has today launched its new state-of-the-art 4G+ network at a major event held at the company’s headquarters in West Bay.

With the launch of 4G+, Ooredoo’s bigger and faster network has become even faster, making Qatar one of a handful of nations in the world to have the fastest mobile Internet service available.

The event, which was attended by Ooredoo’s CEO, Sheikh Saud Bin Nasser Al Thani, Chief Operating Officer, Waleed Al-Sayed, and Ooredoo’s brand ambassador Nasser Al Attiyah, alongside other senior staff members, invited employees from across the company to come and celebrate the next step in the company’s bigger and faster network.

The state of the art 4G+ network has been designed to offer the fastest browsing speeds in Qatar for smartphone users and will offer speeds of up to double the current average 4G mobile Internet speeds.

Using a 4G+ enabled device that supports Ooredoo Qatar’s 4G frequencies, customers will be able to access the superfast 4G+ network for free, taking advantage of the extra speeds and smooth browsing experience to stay in touch, check emails, video call and more.

Waleed Al-Sayed, said: “We need to be one step ahead of our customers and of the country’s needs, which is why we were the first to launch Fibre, first for 4G and now first to launch 4G+. This service truly puts us on the map as one of the most connected countries in the world and will provide the fastest and best LTE service in Qatar for our people.”

The current available Ooredoo 4G speed is up to 150 Mbps. With 4G+, customers are now able to reach up to 225 Mbps, nearly double the average 4G speed in areas of Doha.

Areas with access to 4G+ speeds are the Corniche, West Bay lagoon, Katara, Souq Waqif, Al Rayyan, Shahaniya and Sealine. 4G+ is available from December 1st, 2014. 4G customers living in a 4G+ area without a 4G+ enabled device will continue to enjoy standard 4G speeds.

To ensure customers can take advantage of the superfast 4G+ speeds from launch, Ooredoo has launched three smart devices into the market which will work with 4G+ frequencies. The devices, which include the Samsung Alpha, Huawei Ascend Mate 7 and Huawei E5786 Mi-fi, are available via Ooredoo Shops now.

Customers can enjoy access to Ooredoo 4G+ super-speeds at no added cost with a device that supports Ooredoo’s 4G+ technology and supports 800 or 2600 MHz frequencies. Customers can find a list of Ooredoo supported 4G+ devices at http://www.ooredoo.qa/en/4G-devices
