Ooredoo is a Global Lead Partner at the Smart Cities Council (SCC), a coalition of industry thought leaders, innovators and practitioners dedicated to improving the liveability, workability and sustainability of the world’s cities. The Arab Future Cities Summit (AFCS) is the Middle East’s premier smart cities event, attracting more than 300 senior level executives to discuss progress, efficient management of resources, future developments and ways of making future cities work better in the Middle East.

This is the fourth edition of the event, and Ooredoo as both a partner and leading Smart City enabler, will be showcasing its growing portfolio of smart living projects for delegates.

Ooredoo has an active strategic and supportive role in shaping the telecom and ICT strategies of upcoming mega infrastructure developments undertaken in the state of Qatar as part of the Qatar National Vision 2030.

In particular, Ooredoo has been leading the smart city efforts for the first-ever Smart City in Qatar – the state-of-the-art Lusail City – which will be supported by Ooredoo’s faster and bigger network.

Ooredoo is displaying a host of next generation technology at the event, from smart infrastructure (5G and Fibre), smart entertainment, connected cars, next generation education, health and workplace solutions, to mega-city and municipality services management, intelligent transport and smart stadiums, demonstrating the company’s leadership in driving the latest and the best technology for businesses and consumers.

Speaking in a keynote presentation, Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad bin Nasser al-Thani, Chief New Business Officer, Ooredoo, said: “Ooredoo supports this event as it enables senior level delegates and stakeholders to have a platform to exchange knowledge on smart and sustainable cities. This is truly an exciting time to be in, when we can all have a part and play an active role in pushing our country into the global forefront and providing the framework of a “Smarter country” for the rest of the world to emulate.”

The Arab Future Cities Summit 2015 will showcase city development best practice strategies through presentations from some of the world’s leading experts and the innovative solutions that will integrate citizens, systems and services. There will be opportunities for networking along with knowledge sharing on the various sustainable technologies promoting smart city developments.
