Ooredoo hosted an event to celebrate the diverse workforce resident in Qatar this weekend, with a series of special activities held outside the Ooredoo Shop in Al Khor.

Thousands of Qatar’s blue-collar workers from different countries, employment sectors and ages assembled for the event, which included competitions, performances and quizzes, as well as the distribution of more than 2,000 free food boxes for the workers.

Fatima Sultan Al Kuwari, Director, Community and Public Relations, Ooredoo, said: “Ooredoo is there for everyone in Qatar, and today is a good opportunity to celebrate and thank the diverse range of people making a contribution to the development of the country. We were pleased to take part in the events surrounding International Labour Day, and hope that all the visitors enjoyed themselves.”

The activities ran from 4pm in the afternoon until 10pm in the evening, and many workers thanked Ooredoo for providing the entertainment.

Every year, the world’s working population is honoured on International Labour Day, 1 May, in more than 80 countries. Labour Day is historically a celebration of the economic and social achievements of workers.

As well as activities and performances for the workers, Ooredoo was joined by the Eid Charity who donated a further 2,000 meals and 2,000 t-shirts for the labourers.

Ooredoo has a long history of providing support for Qatar’s diverse workforce, including offering free medical camps for labourers each year, as well as hosting screenings of important sporting events in Al Khor.
