The famed Nissan Patrol, dubbed the ‘Hero of All Terrains in Life’, shattered sales records galore throughout the Middle last month. July sales for the region hit a record monthly high of 3,581 units, a substantial hike of 103 per cent on the same month in 2013.

Nissan Patrol is a name synonymous with ruggedness; a legendary off-roader capable of going anywhere, anytime. With rich heritage spanning over 60 years, the Patrol is Nissan’s flagship SUV model and enjoys a passionate following across the Middle East.

In the UAE a record 1,506 Patrols left the showroom floors while Oman (702 units) and Qatar (316 units) also notched all-time highs.

Kuwait (347 units), Bahrain (95 units) and KSA (316 units) added to the impressive record tally in the GCC countries.

Nissan recorded dramatic July year-on-year increases in the UAE (72%), Qatar (57%), Oman (63%) and Kuwait (80%).

“Last year saw Nissan register a 32 per cent market share in the Gulf market. That is expected to be boosted even further when the figures are totaled at the end of 2014 due to the surge in Patrol sales. Patrol has built a reputation for being one of the most durable, reliable and capable off-road vehicles in the market. Many buyers of the Patrol in the Middle East region are extremely loyal to the vehicle. Breaking sales records is an affirmation of the Patrol’s popularity in the region, we look forward to further achievements throughout the rest of the year,” Samir Cherfan, Managing Director, Nissan Middle East said.

Proving its credentials beyond doubt, Nissan Patrol previously entered the Guinness Book of World Records in 2013 by pulling a 170 tons cargo airplane. It is the heaviest airplane ever pulled by a production car at a live airport.

It is built with the high level of safety, performance and quality that characterises the Nissan brand. As per the latest sales statistics, Nissan Patrol commands a commendable 28% of the top-end SUV segment in the Middle East. The model is developed specifically with the Middle East’s climate and terrains. To assure its durability, Nissan engineers have invested over 13,000 hours in testing Patrol prototypes in the region.

The Nissan Patrol has introduced many of the world’s leading automotive technologies for the first time. The Hydraulic Body Motion Control System(HBMC) kept the car flatter with less body roll during lane-changing and cornering, while delivering superb stability on rugged and sandy tracks. The Patrol employs an All Mode 4x4 system, which allows the driver to quickly switch between four drive modes: sand, on-road, snow and rock, with the flick of a switch. The new Hill Start Assist and Hill Descent Control functions also can be selected easily with the touch of a button for braking purposes on slope road surfaces.

In addition to the 6-speed manual transmission and 7-speed automatic on other grades, a 5-speed automatic transmission with manual mode is introduced on the entry-level XE grade.
