Newly opened Medical Commission unit at Mowasalat to benefit workers

A Medical Commission unit opened yesterday at Mowasalat headquarters close to Industrial Area to provide mandatory medical checkup to Mowasalat employees. The QR15m facility, initially has a capacity to accommodate 200 visitors a day.

It would be upgraded to accommodate up to 450 visitors per day in the near future and the facility may be open to the general public later.

The Medical Commission of Mowasalat-Karwa was inaugurated yesterday by Minister of Transport and Communications H E Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti and Minister of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs

H E Dr Issa bin Saad Al Jafali Al Nuaimi.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Nasser Mohammed Al Malki, Chairman, Mowasalat Transportation Company; Khalid Nasser Al Hail, Managing Director, Mowasalat; other senior officials and dignitaries.

“The new Medical Commission is meant to meet the objectives within the framework of the national agenda to provide the best medical treatment and preventive services in health for the workers category,” said Al Sulaiti speaking to the media on the sidelines of the inauguration.

“This is to reflect the State’s interest in showing care and provide highest level of services to the employees in the expatriate community. The workers will get all the attention that is needed in the field of health and will be provided with the services of highest standards,” he added.

Mowasalat Medical Commission is equipped with a registration section, general practitioner clinic, ENT clinic, dental clinic, laboratory section, radiology section and Occupational Health clinic, mainly for pre-employment medical checkup, and annual medical checkup.

Mowasalat ensured to equip the Medical Centre with a complete and integrated building with additional facilities like consultation rooms, emergency room, isolation unit, well-equipped pharmacy and first aid units at Karwa city and Al Khor city depot.

“We have launched this initiative to make available the resources and investment made in the Medical centre and its top class facilities to also cater to those who are not employees of Mowasalat in the labour intensive Industrial area,” said Al Hail.

“All the equipment are as per latest technology and international medical standards imported from the best companies in the world with consultation and guidance of Ministry of Health.

“Our ITC project team with Dr. Emad had worked along with commitment and attention to detail to aid the European Software company for delivering this high-tech software that would be used at the Medical Commission which is integrated and accessible by Ministry of Public Health.

He mentioned that Mowasalat has about 7,800 employees and it will ensure employees are looked after with care and attention for their fitness, safety and health.

“The centre is open from 7am to 9pm, working in two shifts. All our facilities are certified and licensed by Ministry of Public Health and the ministry of environment,” said Medical Center Director, Dr. Emad Bahloul.

He added: “The medical software system is “The CMS system” exclusively developed and designed for the Medical Commission to ensure accurate and reliable transmission of data.

The system helps not only to serve patients swiftly but also integrated with connection between our diagnostic equipment and the Ministry of Public Health and Ministry of Interior.” (Source)
