The 13 Edition of New Age Banking Summit (NABS) Qatar 2020 served as a unique platform that saw thought leaders, experts, and officials from across the banking industry and fintech sectors gather to deliberate and discuss factors driving seismic changes across the financial services ecosystem and how to exploit new possibilities.

The event, which was held in Dusit Doha on February 12, was attended by over 200 delegates and began with opening remarks from the Conference Chair – Atulya Sharma, CEO, UMS Group and was followed by the keynote speech by Janos Barberis, Top 35 Global Fintech Leader, who spoke on the ‘Qatar 2030 Vision and How Fintech can support it?’ According to Barberis, Qatar has significant ‘first-mover advantages’ to emerge as a financial technology (FinTech) leader in the region.

Barberis’ speech was followed by yet another enlightening keynote address delivered by Dr. Raghavan Seetharaman, Group CEO – Doha Bank. Dr Seetharaman, who spoke on ‘Getting Future-ready in a Disruptive world’ threw light up the emerging trends in technology and how to navigate through the digital disruption. He spoke of the fourth industrial revolution, which combines advanced technologies in innovative ways, dramatically reshaping the way people live, work and relate to one another.

The keynote presentation was delivered by Ewald Müller, Managing Director - QFCRA, who spoke on keeping the supervisory and regulatory environment in Qatar at par with global best practices.

The eminent line up of thought leaders and industry experts engaged the audiences with their insights on disruptive technologies, global banking trends and new age customer needs throughout the day-long event, which saw panel discussions and presentations that covered diverse topics that included cybersecurity, API economy, navigating the Takaful Landscape, Blockchain strategies, emerging trends in Fintech, and more.

The event ended with the prestigious NABS Qatar Awards honoured the best in the industry for having consistently demonstrated exemplary performance. These awards, which celebrate outstanding achievement and contribution to the banking and financial industry, have become an institution in themselves as awards that set the benchmark for excellence, inspiring other banking and financial institution to attain excellence.
