Nasser Bin Khaled Automobiles, the exclusive dealers of Mercedes-Benz in Qatar, launched the all new models of their celebrated SUV range including the GLC, GLE and for the very first time, the GLE coupe.

The exclusive launch event took place at the NBK Automobiles showroom located on Salwa Road, in the presence of NBK Automobiles Chairman, HE Sheik Nawaf Nasser Bin Khaled Al Thani, and other dignitaries, clients and special guests. Mr. Khaled Shaa’ban, General Manager, NBK Automobiles led the evenings proceedings that gave guests an opportunity to discover the amazing world of Mercedes-Benz SUV’s and appreciate their latest models.

The launch of the three new SUVs highlights a key achievement for the company in Qatar, as Mercedes-Benz continues to rev up its product range in the year of the SUV by upgrading its bestseller in the SUV segment. Celebrated for efficiency, performance, safety and reliability, and its incredible range of equipment’s, the three new SUVs are ready to take on the world.

After the opening ceremony, invited guests were treated to the special unveiling of the new models by Sheik Nawaf Bin Nasser Bin Khaled Al Thani, that left them amazed with their designs and key features.

New GLC

The new GLC is in top form. Under all operating conditions the new mid‑size SUV excels with the outstanding safety that is a hallmark of the brand, the latest assistance systems and energy efficiency. Fuel consumption has been cut by up to 19 percent compared with the previous model. At the same time, the AIR BODY CONTROL multi-chamber air suspension that is without parallel in this segment, the extended range of DYNAMIC SELECT dynamic transmission modes and the 4MATIC permanent all-wheel drive increase not only the ride comfort, but also the vehicle's sporty agility - whatever surface it is driving on.

The design philosophy behind the new GLC essentially favours sensual purity and modern aesthetics over the classic off-road look. The dynamic design exudes emotional appeal while also employing purist forms. Surfaces embodying a degree of tension and precise lines cite the clear design line followed by all state-of-the-art SUVs from Mercedes-Benz. The GLC only represents a departure from its progenitor – the G-Class – in terms of appearance, however. On a technical level it sets new benchmarks in all disciplines - the mid-size SUV's off-road capabilities remain as outstanding as ever.

The paradigm shift in the area of design affects not only the outside appearance. The model change also signals a marked upgrade for the interior. The new design idiom combines sensual purity with dynamic sportiness and embodies a new interpretation of modern luxury. In addition, a considerably more spacious interior awaits the occupants and their luggage.

A key focus of the totally new interior design is the dashboard and the centre console with its flowing lines. In comparison to its predecessor, the new model is substantially more spacious for front and rear occupants alike. This is further enhanced by more intelligent packaging, and in some areas the interior dimensions have increased more than the exterior dimensions: Mercedes-Benz has applied an extensive package of measures to enhance the GLC's energy efficiency and performance substantially. Modified or new drive systems, outstanding aerodynamics and intelligent lightweight design are the primary factors behind the vehicle's fuel efficiency.

The new GLC features the AGILITY CONTROL suspension with steel springs and a variable damping system as standard. The GLC is the sole model in this market segment to offer the option of fitting the chassis with a full-support multi-chamber air suspension system and electronically controlled, continuously adjustable damping.

The new GLC offers the DYNAMIC SELECT handling control system with five driving programs as standard. In addition to the ECO, COMFORT, SPORT, SPORT+ and INDIVIDUAL settings which are familiar from other models, the new all-rounder can also be equipped with the Off-Road Engineering package.

Almost all of the driver assistance systems which are familiar from the C, E and S‑Class are available for the new GLC. As part of the Intelligent Drive concept, these systems combine data from various sensor technologies to enhance comfort and safety substantially. FIRST TIME GLE Coupe

The new GLE Coupé is an all-new take on the hallmark appearance and sportiness of the established Mercedes-Benz coupés. Alongside the two-door C, E and S-Class models plus the four-door CLS and CLA Coupé models, the GLE Coupé complements the successful vehicle family at a new, higher level – in the truest sense of the word.

On the one hand, the GLE coupé imparts the hallmark stylistic values of the tradition-steeped Mercedes-Benz coupé. On the other hand, its effortlessly superior sportiness conveys modern luxury and the brand's typical aesthetic aspirations of sensual purity.

With a completely newly developed set-up for the drive system and suspension, the visual appearance is backed up by the technology. Together with the further developed DYNAMIC SELECT dynamic handling control, the SUV Coupé with up to five transmission modes offers multiple, completely different driving experiences – from superior comfort to exhilaratingly sporty.

Popular equipment details are also combined in attractive packages for the GLE Coupé. The Driving Assistance package Plus includes DISTRONIC PLUS with Steering Assist and Stop&Go Pilot, PRE-SAFE^® Brake with pedestrian detection, BAS PLUS with Cross-Traffic Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist and PRE-SAFE^® PLUS. The Parking package with 360° camera and Active Parking Assist with PARKTRONIC guarantees an excellent overview and problem-free manoeuvring into and out of parking spaces. Night-time vision is improved by the LED Intelligent Light System which is a standard feature on all models; adverse weather conditions resulting in impaired visibility are defused by MAGIC VISION CONTROL – the heated, adaptive windscreen wiper system.

As an option, the latest generation of COMAND Online offers perfect infotainment with a 20.3 cm (8-inch) display and intuitive touchpad. The system also includes a DVD player and Traffic Sign Assist with traffic sign recognition including wrong-way warning function. If required, the customer can equip COMAND Online with the 6-disc DVD changer, Rear Seat Entertainment System with remote control, TV receiver or Bang & Olufsen AMG sound system.

GLE

The new GLE blends tradition and modernity with a luxurious interior ambience and a sportier. As the successor to the M-Class, the new GLE is equipped with best on-road and off-road handling, outstanding spaciousness and high levels of active and passive safety with driver assistance systems.

With the start of the new GLE generation, all models are equipped with the nine-speed 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission as standard. The DYNAMIC SELECT handling control system lets you personalise your drive settings to suit your driving style. The ACTIVE CURVE SYSTEM provides better driving comfort both when cornering and on straights as well as expanded off-road capabilities.

Thanks to the 4MATIC permanent all-wheel drive system, the GLE delivers outstanding dynamics and precise handling, even in tough driving conditions. The advantages of the new GLE include best on-road and off-road handling, outstanding spaciousness and high levels of active and passive safety.

The headlamps, daytime running lamps, rear lights and third brake light are all equipped with LED technology. The DYNAMIC SELECT handling control system lets you personalise your drive settings to suit your driving style.

High-grade interior: Exquisite materials and superior craftsmanship

The interior the new GLE highlights what makes a true Mercedes-Benz vehicle: exquisite materials, first-class workmanship and maximum precision. With the EXCLUSIVE interior things become significantly more premium - luxury seats, the roof liner in either black, crystal grey or porcelain, ambient lighting and the Interior Light package create a particularly luxurious atmosphere.

The system uses active anti-roll bars on the front and rear axle and compensates the roll angle of the body during cornering. This enhances agility and driving fun. At the same time, the system provides increased handling stability and safety, especially at higher speeds.
