MOCI seizes toys bearing slogans violating Islamic Values

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) carried out inspection campaigns on a number of shops in different regions of the country to monitor the compliance of suppliers within Law No. (8) of 2008 on Consumer Protection, and Circular No. (2) of 2021 that it recently issued on refraining from trading goods bearing logos and symbols that are non-compliant with Islamic values, customs, and traditions.

The ministry explained that the recent inspection campaigns resulted in the seizure and release of several violations, represented in the seizure of children's toys bearing slogans that violate Islamic values, customs, and traditions that violate Law No. (8) of 2008 on Consumer Protection, and Circular No. (2) of 2021 issued by the ministry on refraining from trading goods bearing logos and symbols that are non-compliant with Islamic values, customs, and traditions.

These inspection campaigns come within the framework of the ministry's efforts to monitor markets and commercial activities in the country, control prices, and detect abuses, counterfeit and non-conforming goods to protect consumers' rights, the ministry said.

The ministry stressed that it will firmly confront anyone who neglects the implementation of their obligations stipulated in Law No. (8) of 2008 on Consumer Protection and its implementing regulations. It will intensify its inspection campaigns and refer anyone who violates laws and ministerial decisions to the competent authorities to take action, the ministry added.

The Ministry urges all citizens and residents to report any goods bearing logos or designs contrary to customs and traditions and locate them so that the ministry's inspectors can take the necessary measures, through the following official channels the call center 16001 and MOCI social media accounts.
