Makita and Nehmeh celebrated 50 Years of Partnership together with the Embassy of Japan, Makita Gulf FZE (MGF) representatives, and an array of customers and partners at the Hilton Doha.
The golden jubilee celebration started with a welcome speech by Mr. Raja Assili, CEO of Nehmeh, highlighting the three key reasons behind the long and successful partnership with Makita: trust, common goals, and complementary skills. Today, Makita and Nehmeh are a dominant force in the marketplace combining quality service with superior tools.
Mr. Assili added: “Our journey together does not end today. Our partnership is held together by our heritage and our ambitions. Makita was founded in 1915, some 20 years after the first portable electric drill was invented. Ever since, the company has expanded its product range to deliver a comprehensive set of power tools. Nehmeh was founded in 1955, and grew from modest beginnings to become a name synonymous with industrial solutions in Qatar.”
Mr. Takeshi Murazawa, the Counsellor from the Embassy of Japan gave a speech on behalf of the Ambassador, underlining the success story of this partnership: “Makita has devoted itself to provide its products and services to meet its customers’ needs. The successful and the remarkable story of Makita and Nehmeh is the outcome of the persistent process and effort of internal variation and innovative management work.” He added: “Makita and Nehmeh is now considered as a key market player in growth and development of Qatar.”
Over the years, Makita and Nehmeh played a significant role in the most remarkable projects in Qatar such as the construction of the iconic stadia for the FIFA World Cup 2022, the Asian Games in 2006, and the Doha metro and many more. These developments are a testament to the quality service that this union has to offer.
Mr. Goto Nobuo, Managing Director of MGF said: “We are very positive about the future of Qatar and the GCC countries as a whole. As always, we might sometimes encounter unexpected difficulties. But as usual, we will help Nehmeh to give best support to their dealers and end users.”
During the celebration, recognition was also given to outstanding distribution partners over the years being: Longest Service Partner was awarded to Lulu Rayyan Trading and Contracting W.L.L; Biggest Product Mix Partner was awarded to Fakhruddin Kaderbhai Trading Co.; Partner with the Highest Makita Accessories Business was awarded to Qatar Technical Aluminium, and Partner with the Biggest Makita Tools Fleet was awarded to Construction Development Company.
Mr. Simon Nehme, Partner & Chairman of the Nehmeh Board, closed the program by highlighting the company’s heritage. He said “The late co–founder, Mr. Antoine Nehme, believed in Japanese technology when all the rest turned towards European and American Brands. It simply differentiated us from others.”
