Le Méridien City Center Doha, in collaboration with Qonexión, announced an open call today for Qatar-based artists to register their interest in being part of the ‘Arrival Artwork’ project to curate and implement a permanent art installation at the hotel’s main lobby.
The “Arrival Artwork” experience starts from the first moment a guest arrives at Le Méridien City Center, Doha, where they are welcomed by a high-impact art installation. Le Meridien hotels worldwide feature art as an essential part of the brand's DNA. To this end, the Arrival Artwork is an important component in the communication of the brand’s passion for the arts. Within the first moments of arrival, the guest should encounter a high-impact art piece that is their threshold of entry into Le Méridien space and Le Méridien mindset.
The competition is open to Qatar-based artists, art students (18 years old and above), and citizens or residents of Qatar. The application period is from 1 - 31 March 2023.
Applications will be reviewed and shortlisted by a jury from Le Méridien City Center Doha, Le Meridien brand, Qonexión and prominent art personalities in Qatar. Shortlisted artists will be invited to Le Méridien City Center, Doha, for a site visit, presentation, and project inspiration. The selected artist will receive QR 10,000 for the art production and installation in the lobby. The artist’s name and story of the art will be part of the permanent installation, which makes the artist and their work part of an international lifestyle brand known for its affinity towards art and culture. The art piece visuals and artist details will be featured in the Global Le Meridien Digital Platforms represented as the “Arrival Artwork” at Le Meridien City Center, Doha.
Qonexión is a multidisciplinary creative studio for artists and creative industries and enables industry leaders to collaborate with Qatar based creative community to receive fresh and innovative ideas for spaces, products, and merchandise.
