For the second year running, Vodafone Qatar hosted the students of Ibn Taymiyah Secondary School for Boys for a tour of the company’s premises located at the Qatar Science & Technology Park and a presentation of Vodafone’s key business units and operations.

Over 22 students and academic representatives visited the Vodafone Qatar offices and discussed with Vodafone’s senior management the expanding world of digital communications and how Vodafone is contributing every day to the development of communications technology and the customer experience in the country.

Zeena Abu-Issa, Events & Sponsorship Manager at Vodafone Qatar, said: “We’re very happy to host the students and academic team of Ibn Taymiyah Secondary School. The visit is strongly in line with Vodafone Qatar’s commitment to forge long-lasting bonds with our community. As a leading telecom operator, we have a responsibility towards enriching the environment we operate in with knowledge that is both valuable and relevant and such initiatives fit perfectly with the high importance we place on our continued engagement with the various walks of our society.”

Dr. Khalid Haroon Al Ali, Head of Ibn Taymiyah Secondary School for Boys, thanked Vodafone Qatar for hosting the students and for the hospitality extended by everyone.

Abu-Issa welcomed the students and gave an overview of Vodafone both locally and globally. Abu-Issa introduced the students later to the fantastic world of Vodafone Falla and Vodafone Falla Club, the first youth telecom plan in Qatar.

Abu-Issa was also joined by Mr. Mohammed Al Yami, Chief External Affairs Officer, Ms. Dana Haidan, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility & Sustainability, Mrs. Wafa Saleh, Al Johara Manager, Mr. Tamim Fares, Prepaid Mass Marketing Manager, and Mr. Avraam Georgakarakos, Online Marketing Manager who each presented the students with an introduction to the departments they manage.

Additionally, the students had a surprise visit by Al-Sadd Football Club Star and AFC 2011 Champion, AbdulKareem Hassan, who gave an inspirational talk about the importance to nurture the power of the youth.

The presentation was followed with a tour of Vodafone Qatar premises and a Vodafone Falla Quiz which culminated in gifts and giveaways including cinema tickets, the highlight of the company’s cinema Firsts initiative known as Vodafone Tuesday.

Both Vodafone and Ibn Taymiyah School Management thank Mr. Magdy El Ganzory, Ibn Taymiyah’s Coordinator of Students Extra-Curricular Activities for his efforts to make this visit a great success.
