Porsche is sending its second generation of 911 Carrera GTS to the starting line. Four models — each in coupe or cabriolet, with rear-wheel or all-wheel drive — close the gap between 911 Carrera S and the road-legal sports car optimised for the race track, the 911 GT3.
Some of the technical ingredients that generate more dynamic performance and driving fun for this model include 430hp power, Sport Chrono package and PASM active damper system which lowers the ride height by 10 millimetres. Improved efficiency has led to quicker accelerations and higher top speeds, with fuel consumption figures remaining unchanged at the favourable level of S models. Combined with the Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK), 911 Carrera GTS accelerates from zero to 100km/h in four seconds (cabriolet 4.2 seconds). All new GTS models reach top speeds of over 300km/h with the manual transmission, rear-wheel drive Coupe being the fastest at 306 km/h.
Taking into consideration additional features on offer, the new models are attractive in price. Options such as bi-xenon headlights with Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS) and sport exhaust system for unmistakable GTS sound are included as standard. The new models also feature 911 Carrera 4 body with wide-flared rear wheel arches, a wide track and 20-inch alloys with centre wheel locks, painted in black silk gloss.
Like other GTS models from the Stuttgart-based sports car manufacturer, the new 911 interior includes Alcantara leather-trimmed sport seats for driver and passenger, alongside centre panels also finished in Alcantara. Black trim strips on the customised GTS air intake screen and black chrome-plated exhaust tailpipes accentuate the rear of the car.
With the addition of the new models, the 911 Carrera range now consists of 12 sports cars at three power levels, as coupes and cabriolets, and with rear-wheel and all-wheel drive systems. The new 911 Carrera GTS and 911 Carrera 4 GTS models can be ordered as of now. The basic retail prices in Qatar are: 911 Carrera GTS Coupe QR453,000, 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet QR488,900, 911 Carrera 4 GTS Coupe QR478,300 and 911 Carrera 4 GTS Cabriolet QR514,600.
