‘Flying dessert buffet’ at Marriott Marquis City Center

For the first time in Qatar, the Marriott Marquis City Center Doha Hotel launches a ‘flying dessert buffet’ as part of its innovate Meetings Imagined concept.

On the occasion of the annual GCC Sales Mission, hosted by the Marriott Global Sales Office in the Middle East and Africa on April 20 in Doha, the buffet, consisting of 50kg of home-made chocolate desserts, was lowered from the 5.5-metrre ceiling of the grand Al Areen Ballroom amid hundreds of guests.

In cooperation with Spirit Events, local events management organisation, the structure sets new standards for the meeting industry in Qatar, as it premiered the ‘flying buffet’ set up in Doha.

‘We are proud to introduce the first-of-its-kind concept of the ‘flying buffet’ in Qatar, highlighting the innovative solutions the hotel can provide to customers with regard to meeting requirements,” said Andreas Wissdorf, General Manager of the hotel.

“The Meetings Imagined concept and the introduction of the Meeting Services App ‘Red Coat Direct’ show that we are leading with initiatives that take the guest experience to another level,” he added.

Meetings Imagined focuses on reinventing the meetings industry, breaking free from a standardised approach to meetings and allowing room for creativity and customised solutions based on the meeting purpose. The concept is the result of research showing key shifts in how the next generation customer works collaboratively and uses technology, both of which are seen as an integral part of how things are accomplished today.

The concept is integrated into the meeting and outside catering segment of the hotel. Rather than focusing just on dates, rates and room layouts, the hotel takes a holistic approach, focussing on the specific purpose of the meeting to create a more engaging experience, setting the hotel apart from its competition.
