The General Tax Authority has announced via its official Twitter that it is now prohibited to sell or trade tobacco products without valid and activated digital tax stamps starting 1 February 2023.

All cigarettes in the local market must have valid and active Digital Tax Stamps.
Supply, transportation, storage, or possession in the State without Digital Tax Stamps will be prohibited.
According to Qatar News Agency, the General Tax Authority launched the digital tax stamp implementation in October 2022. Digital tax stamps are distinctive marks such as labels or digital codes attached to products that are subject to excise tax. These stamps contain encrypted data and are activated electronically.
