ConocoPhillips celebrates the occasion with His Excellency Dr. Mohamed bin Saleh al Sada, Minister of Energy and Industry and Her Excellency Ambassador Dana Shell Smith, U.S. Ambassador to Qatar.

ConocoPhillips Qatar Today held the official inauguration of its new state-of-the-art headquarters in Qatar located in The Gate Mall. Guests of honor for the occasion included His Excellency Dr. Mohamed bin Saleh al Sada, Minister of Energy and Industry and Her Excellency Ambassador Dana Shell Smith, U.S. Ambassador to Qatar. Also attending the event was Matt Fox, executive vice president, exploration and production, ConocoPhillips.

The significance of the new ConocoPhillips offices in Qatar lies in the importance of the relationships the company has created in country and illustrates the company's vision to be the exploration and production (E&P) partner of choice by sharing world class technologies and expertise and pioneering a new standard of excellence to contribute towards the Qatar National Vision 2030 in relation to human, social, economic, and environmental development.

The new offices which represent the regional hub for ConocoPhillips is yet another step towards building a legacy based on strong partnerships with Qatar Petroleum, Qatargas and several other key stakeholders representing a multitude of government, industry and community partners. These partnerships are essential building blocks in continued success of ConocoPhillips.

Gary Sykes, president, ConocoPhillips Qatar presided over the ribbon-cutting ceremony and addressed attendees, welcoming them to the event, "ConocoPhillips' new headquarters in Qatar is an affirmation t our long-term commitment to the country as we continue to be a major contributor and supporter to the energy sector and help serve our partners in Qatar. The innovative and world-class design of our offices is all part of our desire to create an environment that is very safe and conductive to productivity, and is something we at ConocoPhillips are extremely proud of".

Matt Fox, executive vice president, exploration and production, ConocoPhillips Qatar also spoke on the occasion addressing the company's commitment to safely as well as the company's long-term relationships in Qatar. "I'm pleased to see the move to our new office in Qatar occurred safely and without incident and indeed early next year our offices will celebrate 10 years of an incident and injury free workplace environment here in Doha. Our friendships and commitments to Qatar transcend borders. In this year alone, I, along with our CEO Ryan Lance and other ConocoPhillips Executives, had the opportunity to meet with Qatar's leaders in the United States where we met with His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar, and His Excellency Dr. Mohamed bin Saleh al Sada. In closing we are extremely thankful to the State of Qatar for being a partner of choice and sharing in our vision of excellence."

In 2003, ConocoPhillips started its collaboration with Qatar Petroleum through the development of Qatargas 3, a large-scale liquefied natural gas (LNG) project in Ras Laffan Industrial City, Qatar with a capacity of 7.8 million tons per annum (mta). ConocoPhillips holds a 30 percent interest in this integrated project comprising approximately 1.4 gross BCFD of natural gas production over the 25-year life span of the project, as well as an initial average volume of approximately 70 gross MBPD of liquefied petroleum gas and condensate combined from Qatar’s North field. To capture cost savings, Qatargas 3 executed the developments of the onshore and offshore assets as a single integrated project with Qatargas 4. This included the joint development of offshore facilities situated in a common offshore block in the North field.

Sykes concludes, “In 2003, ConocoPhillips began its valuable partnerships in Qatar, following the signing of a heads of agreement with Qatar Petroleum. This December will mark a very important milestone; we are approaching our 10-year anniversary since the establishment of Qatargas3. QG3 is a valuable asset to our company with superior performance. We remain committed to this strong performance and have found Qatar to be a partner of choice, just as we strive to be to them.”

In Qatar, ConocoPhillips also operates its Global Water Sustainability Center (GWSC), the company’s designated center of excellence for all water-related research and development. The Center is located in the heart of Qatar Science and Technology Park and performs a vital role in corporate social responsibility through its program of school visits designed to raise water conservation awareness among students.

With regards to its team. ConocoPhillips places great emphasis on their physical and mental wellbeing and the new offices offer unique features in terms of its look and feel such as ergonomic furniture that will help improve employees’ comfort and productivity as well as advances IT and security features. In designing the offices, ConocoPhillips strive to create a comfortable and enjoyable space for people to work and feel like this is their home away from home.

Following the ribbon cutting ceremony, the event included a tour of the ConocoPhillips Qatar Office as well as a visit to ConocoPhillps’ signature CSR campaign Kulluna “Healthy Heart” booth which will be at The Gate Mall from November 18-22, 2015. The ‘Kulluna for Healthy Heart’ campaign focusses on several ways in which the risk of heart disease can be prevented and highlights lifestyle behaviors such as smoking, obesity, high blood pressure and diabetes as being key risk factors. Visitors to the booth have the opportunity to sign up for a free biometric checkup provided by HMC medical professionals that include details such as weight, height, body mass index, heart rate, blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol levels.
