NeXTfairs for Exhibitions & Conferences organized a press conference on Monday, 13 September 2021, at the InterContinental Doha - The City Hotel. A number of government officials and representatives of companies sponsoring the exhibition attended, including among others:

Rawad Sleem, Co-founder & General Manager of NeXTfairs for Exhibitions and Conferences, announced at the press conference that Build Your House Exhibition (BYH) will be held from 20 - 22 September 2021 at the Qatar National Convention Center under the patronage of Prime Minister and Minister of Interior H.E. Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani. Around 150 companies will participate in the event providing various services in the fields of contracting, architecture, and interior design.

The new edition would include the latest technologies and sustainable materials in the fields of contracting; architecture, and interior design, especially for clients who plan to create or add new designs and features to their houses or real estate projects. The exhibition would also provide an opportunity to discover hundreds of smart and modern options that are both cost-effective and of great quality for designing, building, renovating, maintaining and developing houses. Starting from choosing the consultant, contractor, and the supplier, to planning, designing, and issuing the licenses, up until managing the project with the contractor to handing over keys in a sustainable and cost-effective way.

Sleem added that the Ministry of Public Health has identified a set of precautionary guidelines to ensure the health and safety of exhibitors and visitors which are: allowing only fully vaccinated and age 18-year-old and above to enter the event, ensuring that all employees received a 2-dose vaccine, and allocating an isolation area -in cooperation with Qatar Red Crescent Society and Qatar National Convention Center - for suspected cases. Moreover, an online pre-registration will be required to attend the exhibition, a safe distance between individuals will be maintained, while also using social distancing wall and floor’s signs, providing visitors and exhibitors with a digital comprehensive guide to public safety measures, constantly reminding visitors that face masks should be worn, and checking the green colour on Eheteraz App.

BYH 2021 is marked by the diversity of participating institutions including the public and private sectors as well as other international companies. It is the first event that targets Qatari citizens who are looking to build their houses to help them to obtain ideas and information about building their new houses or renovating their existing ones. The exhibition has also become an important platform that connects visitors with contractors and consultants to enable them to determine their options and make decisions related to the construction process.

Sleem highlighted that the second edition of BYH exhibition is expected to attract deals worth more than 400 million riyals, as diversified entities will participate including government, local, and international companies specialized in various sectors. The exhibition will include workshops and panel discussions that will bring together a host of inspirational names to help visitors plan, procure, design and build homes fit for the 21st century with a sustainable future and smart home solutions. The event will introduce visitors to the various procedures and stages of building their houses, including how to get the necessary licenses for construction, the required documents, and all the information about the space standards for building a house, in addition to the state’s role in distributing lands over citizens. Moreover, workshops would play an essential role in introducing the most critical security and safety standards that must be considered when building houses. Furthermore, the government entities participating in the event will present their experiences and ideas, offer advice to help visitors, and introduce them to the entire construction cycle, highlighting specifications and financing a teardown and rebuilding new houses.

Sleem added that the Conference “Knowledge and Technology Area” will feature 40 speakers discussing the latest trends in the industry and sharing their insights on various topics, starting from designing furniture, eco-friendly interior design, to infrastructure, engineering, and much more..

Sleem added that according to the data published by the Ministry of Finance, 5,045 plots in new citizens' sub-divisions were delivered with integrated infrastructure including (roads - sewage networks – traffic management - surface and underground water drainage networks – lighting poles - communication networks - water and electricity networks by KAHRAMAA) within 2020, while the 2021 budget puts the development of citizens' lands at the top of its priorities through two phases at a total cost of 37 billion riyals; the cost of the 1st phase of developing citizen’s lands is 16.5 billion riyals which includes a total of 11.989 plots in 13 areas, while the cost of the 2nd phase is 20.5 billion riyals that includes 21.424 plots distributed over 19 areas, in addition to projects in fields, such as health and education.

He further explained that the development of citizens' lands, the completion of the infrastructure projects, and the projects related to 2022 FIFA World Cup will stimulate the recovery of the construction, design, and contracting sectors, supported by the momentum of government spending on projects, while the private sector will actively participate in the aforementioned projects supported by the government that consider it a major partner in the development process, especially since the 2021 state budget reveals the list of the new approved projects, in coordination with the Public Works Authority (Ashgal) , at a value of 53.9 billion riyals, and it is scheduled to be awarded during the period from 2021 to 2023.

The launching of a free electronic platform to register on the website of BYH is to allow visitors enter the event in no time. All the preventive measures against Covid-19 are applied to ensure the health and safety of all participants, exhibitors and visitors during the exhibition, especially that NextFairs has signed an agreement with Boecker, the global leader in health and safety to apply all the measures including: regular and consistent disinfection of the halls, exhibition stands and all exhibits before bringing into the exhibition halls. In addition, Boecker will also provide the general supervision of other preventive measures such as thermal scanning of the participants, wearing of masks, and checking Eheteraz App, among others.

Moreover, Boecker will provide internal audits on practices and measures taken -based on Qatar Clean program that was launched by Qatar National Tourism Council- to ensure the safety of organizers, participants, and visitors. In addition to applying the precautionary measures of Qatar National Convention Center, in line with the best global and local practices in the field of business events, to provide the safest experience for both exhibitors and visitors.

In addition, many of the participating companies will provide a set of exclusive offers, services, and products that will be available for the first time in the local market. Moreover, raffle draw prizes will also be given during the exhibition for the first time, with one lucky visitor winning the grand prize - 2021 Ford Ranger XLS. Furthermore, winners of the interior design competition will showcase their designs to the public. The visitors will be able to check out the winning designs and meet the winners at VCUarts Qatar's pavilion at BYH exhibition and at the awards ceremony on the second day of the exhibition.
