Twenty-two successful teams from all universities in Qatar have made it through the semi-finals and are ready for the ‘Enterprise Challenge Qatar’ 2015, Universities Grand Final competition that will be held on 28th November 2015 at Qatar National Convention Centre.
The Enterprise Challenge Qatar is an annual competition that encourages and inspires the entrepreneurial spirit among young people in Qatar. The competition was launched in October, reaching out to more than 1000 students from schools and universities from across Qatar.
The successful teams from each of the thirteen participating universities, which will move forward to the final competition are: Qatar University: QU8 and QU10; Carnegie Mellon University Qatar: CMU2 ,CMU3; College of North Atlantic Qatar: CNAQ4, CNAQ2; Stenden University Qatar: STENDEN6, STENDEN1; Academic Bridge Programme, Hamad bin Khalifa University: VCU10, NW10; Georgetown University Qatar: GT3, GT1; Community College Qatar: CCQ1, CCQ2, CCQ3; University of Calgary Qatar: VCU1, VCU3, Northwestern University Qatar: NW1 NW2; Qatar Faculty of Islamic Studies: QFIS1; Texas A & M University Qatar: TAMU1; University College London Qatar NW7.
The qualified teams for the Universities Grand Finals will compete on an entrepreneurship computer simulation that seeks to evaluate the teams’ performance on running their business in a competitive marketplace over a three-year period. In addition, the six top teams, with the highest net profit scores, will present their sustainable business pitches to a panel of judges to select 3 winning teams.
In 2014, ‘Enterprise Challenge Qatar’ received special praise and recognition during the ‘UK Mentor of the Year Awards’ hosted by His Royal Highness, The Prince of Wales at Sandringham Palace in the United Kingdom. Earlier this year, Qatar Shell and Bedaya also won Social Development Center’s Reyada ‘Outstanding Entrepreneurial Support’ Award for their role in supporting Qatari entrepreneurs and Small and Medium Enterprises, including through the ‘Enterprise Challenge Qatar’.
The ‘Enterprise Challenge’ programme was originally created by Mosaic, a UK-based not-for-profit organisation established by His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales in 2007, with a range of mentoring programmes aimed at fostering opportunities for young people.
