Qatar Tourism (QT) in partnership with Mowasalat (Karwa) invites residents in Qatar to participate in its very first design competition. Residents are encouraged to submit designs for the limousine’s exterior, reflecting Qatar’s culture and heritage, progressive future, sustainability and eco-friendly vision.

What is Qatar’s Iconic Limousine?

The Iconic Limousine initiative is part of Qatar Tourism’s Service Excellence program that introduces fully electric luxury vehicles for discerning travelers. This latest joint initiative aims to advance and enhance the transportation experience for visitors and residents alike, delivering the best-in-class service, along with a striking exterior design that is deeply anchored in Qatari culture and hospitality.

What is the criteria for joining the contest?

• You must be a Qatar–based resident or citizen, 18 years old and above.
• You have a valid Qatar residence permit and Qatar ID.
• You must agree to the terms and conditions of the competition.

What parts of the car are you required to design?

• All sides of the vehicle can be designed.

What is the criteria for evaluation?

• Theme-related: The design encompasses the competition themes:
  • Qatar's culture and heritage
  • Qatar's progressive future
  • Qatar's sustainability and eco-friendly vision
• Creativity & uniqueness: The design approach has to be:
  • Innovative
  • Inspiring
  • Authentic
  • Memorable
  • Distinctive
  • Non-plagiarized

What is the mechanism of the evaluation?

• Phase 1: Shortlist by QT Design Competition committee
  • Select members from Qatar Tourism will shortlist the top designs.

• Phase 2: Public vote
  • The top designs shortlisted by the QT committee will enter into a public vote on Qatar Tourism's voting platform.
  • The design with the most votes will receive the ‘People’s Design Choice’ award.

• Phase 3: Jury vote
  • The Jury panel will evaluate the same top designs as the public. The jury will nominate their top design choice, which will then be placed on the iconic limousines.

What are the prizes and rewards for the winning design?

• Jury’s Top Design Choice
  • QR 100,000
  • Design placed on Iconic Limousine
  • Participant name on Iconic Limousine
  • Social media acknowledgment
  • Design showcased on various platforms
  • Invitation to the closing event

What is the competition schedule?

• Competition registration - ongoing
• Design submission - 11 to 28 October 2021
• Shortlist announcement - 1 to 7 November 2021
• Public vote - 8 to 16 November 2021
• Jury vote - 8 to 16 November 2021
• Winner announcement - End of November
