The Katara Cultural Village unveils today (February 20, 2019) a mural titled “Challenge” for late Qatari artist Yousef Al Sadaat's building 39.
The artwork consists of more than one million mosaic art piece that decorates the walls at the entrance of Katara and the large-scale artwork was made using the mosaic technic to enlarge the original painting.
Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, General Manager of Katara said that this painting was selected for its lovely pattern that goes well with Katara’s theme and because Katara always supports local artists. “Although the late artist had very few artworks, they were very unique and valuable and should be commemorated”, Sulaiti added.
The painting features the face of a sailorman with a brunette face and is glowing from the reflection of the blazing sunlight.
“This artwork is to commemorate a noted Qatari artist who left us early at a young age but his legacy will remain everywhere”, Sulaiti said. He added that Sada had a vision and a great taste in art which motivated Katara to adopt his artworks.
