His Excellency (H.E.) Sheikh Saif bin Ahmed Al Thani has been the Director of the Government Communications Office (GCO) since June 2015.
As the Director, he is responsible for coordinating communications across government and public sector funded agencies, supporting various ministries and government entities to respond to media inquiries and communicating the government’s priorities and programmes to various entities.
H.E. Sheikh Saif obtained a BA in International Relations from Richmond, The American International University in London, and went on to study an MA in Political Communications from City, University of London.
In 2010, H.E. Sheikh Saif was appointed as the Assistant Director of Research at the Doha International Family Institute. In 2011, he moved on to become the Senior International Relations Officer at the Ministry of Interior. He served the MOI till 2013, after which he became the Senior International Relations Officer at the Prime Minister’s Office and stayed in that position till 2015, when he was appointed as the Director of the GCO, a position he holds till date.
He is also the Acting Director of the Prime Minister’s Office and Since 4 November 2018, H.E. Sheikh Saif is also a board member of the National Tourism Council.
