His Excellency Salah bin Ghanem Al Ali, born on 3 August 1966, is the Minister for Culture and Sports in Qatar. He was appointed in 2016, after serving the role of Minister of Youth and Sports from June 2013 to June 2016.
H.E. Salah bin Ghanem Al Ali has the overall responsibility of all Ministry of Culture and Sports issues. These include:
H.E. Salah bin Ghanem Al Ali enjoys literature and has an interest in the heritage and national history of Qatar.
He also has an inclination towards innovations and innovative thinking, leadership, administration and human behaviour. That's why he has participated in conferences, forums and training programmes on the above-mentioned subjects, and given lectures and presentations as well.
H.E. Salah bin Ghanem Al Ali has a Bachelors in Science degree in Administrative Engineering which he obtained from the Pacific University, USA, in 1992.
H.E. Salah bin Ghanem Al Ali started his service with the Qatari government in 1988 as the Deputy Chief of the Audit Bureau. He played this role till 2006 when he was appointed as the Chief of the Audit Bureau. In this role, he played an active role in developing the Audit Bureau and took part in formulating a strategic plan for the Bureau between 2005 and 2010, and 2011 to 2016. Under his leadership, the Audit Bureau's vision became assisting the state to strengthen the rational governance in order to achieve sustainable development for the Qatar society, to strengthen the principle of questioning and to apply a standard of rational governance dealing with actions related to public funds.
Two years later, in 2008, H.E. Salah bin Ghanem Al Ali became the head of the National Day Celebrations Committee where he participated in the formulation of the Qatar National Day vision that promotes loyalty, solidarity, unity and pride in the Qatari national identity. By 2011, His Excellency was given the role of a Consultant in the Office of the Heir Apparent and was also appointed as the General Manager of Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani Foundation for Social Care - a private foundation that is for public benefit.
On 18 June 2012, H.E. Salah bin Ghanem Al Ali became part of the Al Rayyan Satellite TV operations with the mission to portray the media in Qatar as an ethical medium that supports Qatar's enlightenment, consolidates its uniqueness and identity, and focuses on sustainable development.
On 27 January 2016, H.E. Salah bin Ghanem Al Ali took on his new role as the Minister of Culture and Sports, and within four years, he has changed the face of sports and culture in the country developing them and nurturing them so they can develop and grow.

H.E. Salah bin Ghanem Al Ali has had a very illustrious career and under his patronage sports and culture have flourished in the country with many international events taking place in the last couple of years, and many more yet to come.
