Going around Qatar is now easier thanks to the opening of the three Doha Metro lines - Red, Gold, and Green. It has since been used by residents to go to work and visit popular spots as well as by visitors to attend football matches and festivities.

Doha Metro network

    Red Line (18 stations in operation)

    • Lusail, Qatar University, Legtaifiya, Katara, Al Qassar, DECC, West Bay, Corniche, Al Bidda, Msheireb, Al Doha Al Jadeda, Umm Ghuwailina, Al Matar Al Qadeem, Oqba Ibn Nafie, Hamad International Airport, Free Zone, Ras Bu Fontas, Al Wakra
    • The line extends 40 kilometers from North to South.
    • Interchange: Al Bidda/Msheireb

    Gold Line (11 stations in operation)

    • Ras Bu Abboud, National Museum, Souq Waqif, Msheireb, Bin Mahmoud, Al Sadd, Joaan, Al Sudan, Al Waab, Sport City, Al Aziziyah
    • The Gold Line has 11 stations all currently operating and extending 14 kilometers from East to West.
    • Interchange: Msheireb

    Green Line (11 stations in operation)

    • Al Doha Al Jadeda, Msheireb, Al Bidda, The White Palace, Hamad Hospital, Al Messila, Al Rayyan Al Qadeem, Al Shaqab, Qatar National Library, Education City, Al Riffa
    • The Green Line has 11 stations all currently operating and extends 22 kilometers from East to West.
    • Interchange: Al Bidda/Msheireb

      Doha Metro train schedules

      As of February 2022, the Doha Metro schedule is as follows:

      • Saturday to Wednesday: 06:00 – 23:00
      • Thursday: 06:00 – 23:59
      • Friday: 14:00 – 23:59

      Each station has its own specific timings for the first and last train. If you want to make sure that you will be on time for the train and your destination, scroll down to see the Doha Metro train schedule and Metrolink bus schedules below.

      Please note that all timings are sourced from Qatar Rail.

      *First train timings below are for Saturday to Thursday (6 am) and Friday (2 pm)

      Trains run approximately every 5 minutes.

      The last recommended interchange at Msheireb station is at 22:25 (Sat-Wed) and 23:25 (Thu - Fri)

      RED LINE - Lusail QNB to Al Wakra (and Hamad International Airport)

      Please note that according to Doha Metro, if you are coming from Al Wakra and headed to Hamad International Airport Terminal 1 station, you first have to alight at Oqba Ibn Nafie then take the train heading to Hamad Airport. Same as when you are coming from HIA station heading to Al Wakra, you have to change trains at Oqba Ibn Nafie station.

      Travel times of Doha Metro Lines (approximate)

      RED LINE

      • The travel time from Lusail QNB station to Al Wakra station is at least 37 minutes while Lusail to HIA is at least 36 minutes.
      • Hamad International Airport to Al Wakra takes at least 13 minutes, and vice-versa.
      • From Msheireb station, it takes at least 15 minutes to get to Al Wakra while at least 14 minutes to get to HIA.

      GOLD LINE

      • The travel time from Al Aziziyah to Ras Bu Abboud takes at least 20 minutes. Msheireb to Al Aziziyah takes at least 13 minutes while it takes at least 7 minutes to reach Ras Bu Abboud.

      GREEN LINE

      • The travel time from Al Riffa to Al Mansoura takes at least 26 minutes and vice versa. Msheireb to Al Mansoura is only 3 minutes while it takes at least 23 minutes to reach Al Riffa.

      Metrolink schedule

      The Metrolink is a feeder bus network that provides first and last-mile connectivity to Doha Metro customers so they can travel within a 2 - 5 kilometer radius of the Doha Metro stations FREE of charge.

      The operating hours for the Metrolink are:

      • Saturday to Wednesday: 06:00 to 23:00
      • Thursday: 06:00 to 23:59
      • Friday: 14:00 to 23:59

      As of February 2022, here are the current Metrolink routes and the schedule for the last bus. Metrolink runs every 12 minutes except during non-peak hours at Free Zone Station. Maps are available at Metro station entrances, the Qatar Rail website and the Qatar Rail App. You can also download the Karwa Bus App to track the buses in real time.

      Metroexpress timings

      The Metroexpress is a free pilot ride-sharing feeder service that is available for registered Metro passengers and can only be used in conjunction with a metro journey to connect specific service zones around the Doha Metro stations.

      The metroexpress service uses a fleet of branded Mercedes Vito vans that can seat seven passengers in each vehicle, but due to COVID-19 restrictions, only five passengers can sit in the vehicle at a time. It can also be requested on-demand and customers can book a ride through the metroexpress Doha app.

      The metroexpress, currently, serves six Metro stations on the Red Line - from West Bay Qatar Energy to Qatar University - and its adjoining areas and important landmarks as well.

        The metroexpress operates during the following timings:

        • Saturday to Wednesday: 05:45 to 23:00
        • Thursday: 05:45 to 23:59
        • Friday: 14:00 to 23:59
