Although nobody anticipates an accident, it is essential to always be prepared; therefore, having important documents is essential.

The three most important documents to have are the following:

  • Driving license
  • Vehicle registration
  • Car insurance papers

Make sure that these documents are valid at all times.

Immediate action

The first thing to do is to assess how severe the accident is and to secure yourself from any hurt.

If the accident is minor, but there is damage, take a photo of the accident with a clear indication of the number plates and the damage.

In the case of a dispute, and if further discussion is required with the assistance of the traffic police, try to move your car off the main road to a side which is safe for you and will prevent any traffic blocks.

If the accident is major and the car is not movable, immediately call 999 and ask for police assistance and emergency medical assistance if required.

Registering an accident

Accident registration via the Metrash2 application

If the accident you have incurred is minor and you and the other party agree, the accident can easily be registered via the Metrash2 application (iOS | Android). This is an application provided by the Ministry of Interior which digitizes most civilian services concerning traffic violations, accident registration, employment documentation & many others.

You can enter the Metrash2 application and visit the 'Traffic Services' section, then click on the 'Accident Report' section, where you can register the accident by entering both car and location details.

Note: The online registration must be done at the accident site to ensure the location details are accurate, as the application automatically picks up the location.

If the person responsible for the accident is clear with the details provided, both parties will receive an SMS indicating that the accident has been registered and the insurance and repair report can be printed through the MoI website using the given accident number.

Note: A registration fee of QR 100 will apply to the person deemed responsible for the accident.

Accident registration at the Traffic Police

In the case of severe or disputable accidents, both parties involved can proceed to the nearest police station to register the accident and get the necessary intervention.

More details on the Traffic Service Center locations and contact numbers can be found here.

Note: A registration fee of QR 100 will apply to the person deemed responsible for the accident.
