Doha Metro has made it easier for residents and visitors to explore what Doha and nearby municipalities offer. For only QR 2 per trip (Standard/Family), you can affordably reach any of the Doha Metro stations currently operating.
Qatar Rail also provides first and last-mile connectivity to its customers. You've probably been on a metrolink feeder bus, but have you tried the metroexpress? Scroll down to find out all about it!
[UPDATE AS OF JUNE 2023] The metroexpress has added new stations to their service areas and has adjusted timings! Read on to find out more.
Think of it as the Doha Metro's Uber service, except it's free (currently on free trial) and only works in selected areas. Unlike the metrolink which has a set schedule per bus, the metroexpress is an on-demand ride-sharing service. Passengers can ride on a fleet of Mercedes Vito vans straight from one of the selected Metro stations.
Before COVID-19, the metroexpress could seat up to 7 passengers.
Registered Metro users heading to the designated Metro stations or those who have finished their Metro journey can use this complimentary service.
Passengers who wish to avail of the Metroexpress services would have to download the Karwa Taxi app and click on the Metroexpress tab to use Metroexpress as usual. Doha Metro & Lusail Tram notes that the Metroexpress is free to use by passengers of the Doha Metro and Lusail Tram.
Download the Karwa Taxi App here: Google Play | App Store
Upon booking, you just have to input your requested pick-up location and requested drop-off location. You can also choose how many passengers will be booking the ride. You will also see how many minutes you need to wait before your metroexpress ride comes.
The metroexpress is available in specific service zones.
Currently, these are the selected Metro stations from where you can book the service to and from, according to Qatar Rail:
According to Qatar Rail's website, these areas are served by the metroexpress through the metro stations stated above.
Through the app, you'll also be able to see the permitted locations wherein you can use the metroexpress service.
